I'm looking at putting about 250 sq ft of slate down in my place and I want to buy a tile saw. I've seen them anywhere from $59 to over $800. I'll be doing this over a 2 week period and by the time I pay for a rental, I'll have bought myself a saw 3 or 4 times over.

So is there anything I should look for or avoid? I'm guessing I should stay away from the $59 ones, but what's a good price range to be in?

There is a guy on here selling his smaller one for around 50-60 bucks. I have not yet searched to help you.

You can get them for 80 bucks or so at Homedepot or Rona.

LOL. I do actually plan to keep it afterwards for future projects.

The cheap ones are fine for light duty home use.

Absolutely.

I paid about 70 bux for mine at totem about 2 years ago.

I did three bathrooms before I had to replace the blade.

Still gotta do the kitchen and hallways.....

If you plan on keeping it I would get one where the blade is on top of the tile...the small ones work well but spit water in your face....if you want to keep it spend some $ on it...it will pay itself off quickly (rent it to your buddies etc...)

The cheap ones work well but cut slowly and are not quite as accurate.
