I am not sure if it is just my case so I will post all about it.

newest itunes
firewire cable

it says nano does not support fireiwre transfers and to use USB, it will charge fine but not supported for some reason.

it might however be me, i never relaly looked into it sicne i have both cables anyway.

check into it.
