GENEVA -(Dow Jones)- Toyota Motor Corp. (TM) President Katsuaki Watanabe reiterated Monday the world's second-biggest auto maker by output would have no interest in acquiring Chrysler if DaimlerChrysler (DCX) did decide to sell its struggling U.S. unit.
...
"We have no intention of acquiring or buying Chrysler," Watanabe said.
..
Watanabe said Toyota isn't focused on being the world's biggest car maker by output, preferring instead to focus on qualitative results like "quality, cost competitiveness and profitability."
The Toyota president also said the company wasn't currently searching for another U.S. production site after announcing the opening of a plant in Mississippi last week. Media reports after the announcement suggested Toyota would need to boost production further in the U.S. to keep up with its soaring sales in that country.
