Okay, math was never my strong suit - but what the fuck is with this problem:
3 MEN GO INTO A MOTEL. THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK SAID THE ROOM IS $30, SO
EACH MAN PAID $10 AND WENT TO THE ROOM.
A WHILE LATER THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK REALIZED THE ROOM WAS ONLY $25, SO
HE SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE 3 GUYS' ROOM WITH $5.
ON THE WAY, THE BELLBOY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SPLIT $5 EVENLY
BETWEEN 3 MEN, SO HE GAVE EACH MAN A $1 AND KEPT THE OTHER $2 FOR
HIMSELF.
THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 MEN EACH PAID $9 FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A TOTAL OF
$27, ADD THE $2 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = $29.
WHERE IS THE OTHER DOLLAR?
Wtf? Doesn't make sense. What am I missing!?

WTF!!!?!??!!!?!
Paid 30
- 5
25 paid
Got $3 back
so
26$
27$
28$
Then the bell boy took 2 dollars
$29
$30
Don't mulitly or it will mess you up

its just how it was worded.
picture this.
3x9 =27 for the
27-2= 25
3+2 = 5
5+25 = 30

The bellboy's $2 comes out of the $27 that the 3 guys paid, you can't add it back to $27. The room is only $25 remember.
$25 in the till + $2 for the bellboy +$3 back to the 3 guys = $30.

Heh, you can't figure out 3 x 9?
The trick here is the very last sentence.
ADD THE $2 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = $29.
...doesn't make any sense. Why would you add it back? The bellboy started out with $0, his $2 came FROM the $27.

LOL, this took me about 2 seconds to figure out, and I suck at math.
Guys pay 30, boy brings back 5, gives 1 dollar back to each of 3 guys = 28$ Keeps 2 for himself = $30 accounted for.

Exactly. You should be subtracting from the $27, not adding.

 someone just told me this on Tuesday, he thought he was really stumping me... I just looked at him and explained it all back to him. He was sitting there thinking that there was $1 "magically" unaccounted for... :thumbsdow
