I've seen about a half dozen of those in one garage. All in various stages of restoration. Once every couple of years the Mercedes-Benz club out on Vancouver Island holds a BBQ and at guy named Rudy's(can't remember last name) ranch. He usually has all kinds of neat old Mercedes and always 2 or 3 gull wings. According to the people I talked with he's the best when it comes to that kind of stuff, I never got a chance to talk with him.

I've met the guy that owns that. That car got beat to shit in a hail storm a couple years back. I would have cried.

This is an incredible car, I noticed you are also on the MBCanada forum. Would you mind reposting the pics in tha Classic car section there.

This is an amazing set of pictures.

If you don't want to would you mind if I posted them?

Dude... you have WAY too many forum sections on that website. I love MB's... and I visit MBworld.org all the time... but when I go to your site... I just cringe and leave as soon as I arrived... way to much selection – boggles the mind.

"Health and Nutrition Forum". Cool I guess. :)

I think that car used to belong to a guy named Heinz, who owned Alberta Chrome & Grind. He since passed away, but I wasn't aware that his wife had sold it......

milesmcewing

Heinz sold the car about 3 years ago, went for about 225k, there are two in Calgary, and one did get hit by hail, but I don't think it was the same one rage saw.

I was told the one I saw was the hail one, which was restored.

HI
I DONT INTEND TO BE A PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR, NOR INTEND TO DISCOVER YOUR SHOW-OFF...BUT I HAVE TO SAY I NOTICED TWO THINGS IMPORTANT ABOUT YOU. FIRST MAYBE YOU ARE GIRLFRIEND OR WIFE OF THE CAR'S OWNER. INOTICED YOUR BLACK MERCEDES(THE ONE BEHIND THE GULLWIND) IN COUPLE OF OCASIONS. SECOND, HOW IN THE HELL A $500,000 CLASSIC CAR OWNER WILL TRHOW IT ON PLAIN STREETS. WHAT I HAVE TO SAY IS THAT MAYBE THAT CAR IS A REPLICA (AS COBRAS HAVE) OR MAYBE IS A "REPRINT"(SORRY) OF THE ORIGINAL MADE FROM A MANUFACTURER. TODAY IS JANUARY 15 2004 AND IF YOU RUSH AND ACCES EBAY. COM YOU WILL SEE ONE OF THOSE REPRINTS AT A $100,000 PRICE.
THAT MY OPINION AND THANKS
PS......IF IT THE REAL DEAL....YOUR INSURANCE MUST BE HIGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey is that the one that was in a few exotic car show's last year? I remember seeing it at the ZR auto show, does anybody else remember seeing it there? It was also at another show but i can't quite remember... It's amazing to see that the car is driven and not a perminant show car. and if memory serves me right, (and they weren't lying) it is a real gull wing.

RAGE: Edit...300SL gullwing...not SL300..LOL

Inspect her Gadget:

When people have enough money to buy classic collector cars valued at a million dollars (500,000?? what are you smoking?), I don't think they are concerned about insurance premiums. One thing is for certain, REAL car enthusiasts like myself and many people on this forum WOULD drive that car once in a while..

Enjoy your game of snakes and ladders, my friend...

why is it so hard for people to believe that someone would drive their vehicle. it is a car not something else... and non use is just as hard (but not necessarily the same parts as driving)

Just an extremely rare and old car thats all. To put it on the streets especially at this time of the year risking possible damage to such a nice car seems crazy to me. I can't explain it any other way.

Exactly, Cars dont mean the same thing to everyone out there. For some people (myself included) cars are ment to be enjoyed in the drivers seat, not looked at in a garage on sundays. Thats just my thoughts tho.

a cust of mine who was stopped while driving his 550 by some guys who wanted to make a bra for the car so it would not get stone chips told them " If I can afford to drive this car....I can afford to drive it."

not driving a fine car is like having a fine woman and just paying for her shopping habits and having seperate bedrooms

Just a difference in opinions thats all. I'm all for driving a car rather than letting it sit in the garage to rott. But this car is pretty damn rare. A collectors item more so than a daily driver. But it really doesn't matter anyways you have your opinion, and I have mine.
