Hey, just wanted to introduce myself here. I mostly post on 780tuners, my name is Evan and I picked up my 06 suzuka blue s2000 last summer. It is still mostly stock, I have only put Fortune Auto coilovers on it and a couple GP Fab engine bay bits.

Here is how it sat before I put her away for the winter:

Love the coilovers, I opted for the 10k/10k spring rates and love how the feel on the road. For the price I would highly recommend them.

Curious if anyone has a cusco rollcage 4/5pt that they are willing to sell, paint condition/color doesn't matter.

"Does not fit 06+" So make sure you get one that does.

They look pretty cool but if you want one for actual rollover protection, get a hard dog and get it welded. They've withstood some serious crashes.

Yeah looking to get one more for looks, not a fan of the hard dog requiring cutting panels to fit. Its not a difficult modification to make the cusco fit an 06, just requires the passenger side mount to be cut with a piece welded in on a slant.

Something local (calgary or edmonton) would be ideal, but if not I will look into ordering one.

It might be in this thread somewhere....but yeah I just bought a s2k last night, what are you guys doing regarding hooking up your radar detectors for those who use one? Since the ac plugin is in between the 2 seats is anyone just running the bungy type power cord and tucking it down the best you can or is hard wiring the detector the way to go?

Hardwire in a new socket closer to the dash maybe passenger footwell area.
Hardwire in your current detector and tuck wires along windshield edges.
Get a new radar detector that is battery powered (Escort Solo 3) or permanent install like the 9500ci

Having that cord going all the way down the center of your car doesnt really seem like a viable option

I run the bungy cord power thing to the middle outlet when I use my radar detector but thats only if I drive on the highway... other than that I dont use my radar detector in the city so I dont have much a problem with the cord being in the way.

If i was using it on a more regular basis i'd definately hard wire it in.

Correct me if I am wrong, but would not you need a massive front fender roll for this width and offset?

eglove

nope, not massive. but a slight pull. depends on tire, he won't be running something square like 245 or 255, he'd have to drop to 225

245/40 is too tall on the 18x9.5 so 35 series is the only way to go, its the most common tire size people are running on them.

1 inch you may be able to get away without doing any modification at all

This is a 17x9 +35 with same tire size and it was not a square sidewall, however if I did not roll and relocate the tab in the rear I would rub

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o93/shadowz940/2094ec39.jpg

Depending on the tire, but you would need to do a slight roll in the rear, tab relocation, and roll the tabs in the front fenders and remove fender liner.

That's going to require a full roll all around.

I've run M1 synthetic on 2 of my cars so far, both started burning obscene amounts of oil. Couldn't really tell you why, but after I switched to another brand synthetic it went right back down to normal.

In the S2000 I was burning 4-5L every interval. I was starting to think that my engine was done, even though comp/leakdown were great. Switched to Amsoil (other oils worked well too) and I was down to 1L over an interval. I've read a lot of similar comments from people on s2ki, but on the other hand some people use M1 without any issues at all.

To be quite honest I think Amsoil is a bit overkill. Although a great oil that fits the high revving specs of the S2000, other oils do just fine, and its ridicoulsly expensive.

Without other work or slight modifications, you will rub like a nymphomaniac stranded alone on a desert island. But you'll be alright if you don't plan on driving on normal public roads. Flat plate glass oughta do it.
A 225 front tire on stock rims and stock ride height will rub if you go hard around a corner with an incline.

Used oil analysis of non-synthetic, brand name oil has shown to be still viable after a 7500 mile interval in an S2000. Synthetic of any kind is still a good option to take, though still "overkill". If Amsoil is what does the trick for you, then the cost is no object. Oil burning seems to be very car specific in the S2000. While some will burn oil with one kind, another won't with the same kind. I'm sure there is a logical reason for it. We just don't know what that might be.
Synthetic oil is better for cold climates as it has less pumping resistence, given the same viscosity rating. If all S2000s were operated in temperate regions, non-synthetic would be all that's needed. But since we have extreme heat of summer and extreme cold of winter, a good synthetic is a smart choice. Pick what works for your needs.
Modern day "brand name" oils are so good, there's no magic in it anymore. They all work. You pay more or pay less to resolve unique issues.

I'll be listing my stock rims for sale soon, good for winters or track. Painted black OEM AP1 rims, rear tires are basically brand new, fronts have 2 years left in them I'd say.

Also if anyone has an OEM style carbon fiber hood I'd be interested in either trading or buying it. I don't mind the vent on mine but would rather just an oem style hood.

I think 7-8 years ago people were installing these on the s2k. Haven't seen much local s2k's running superchargers anymore as it is way cheaper to turbocharge

In Edmonton there are a number of guys running the SOS supercharger kits and like them quite a bit. However for the price to performance ratio Turbo seems to be the way to go. On s2ki Ptuning seems to have a pretty good turbo kit.

Make sure the "3rd bow" comes in to marry the "2nd bow" as the top comes down, if any material folds in between then the top won't close. Temporarily you can open the top 2/3rds of the way and yank the material that is folding in between down so the two bars are able to come together... Sounds tough, pm if you need help

Thanks forced, I got it figured out. The upholstery shop accidentally sewed the material around the "bow" so it wouldn't move. Works all good now :)

Does anyone have an extra set of "clampers" mine don't really have the same closing power with the tightness of the new top. Get a bit of whistling now at 100 km/h+ where it meets the windshield.

if anyone is looking for a subwoofer setup for their car I've got a fiberglass box and 12" Alpine Type R for sale. Molded to the hole where the jack and tool box would go.

How do you go about fixing a titanium exhaust? OR would you have to buy the whole mid section? Thanks!

anyone happen to have a EPS module they want to sell? :nut:

For the last week or so my EPS light will turn off, power steering dies, check engine light turns on. Then after a bit of driving the EPS light turns off, power steering is back and after like 2 or 3 drives the check engine light turns off and the car drives as normal.

Googled it and seems to be a fairly common/known issue? Anyone here have this issue? '03 AP1 here.

You can cut the damaged section out and get a new part welded in, not worth it for me since I don't have the car anymore, paid well over 2500 for the exhaust, I'm willing to let it go for cheap and you can spend a couple hundred to repair it

$300 is a bit much. I've seen them the past for around $100. That's about as much as I'm willing to pay.

Nick can you pm me pics of damage?

Looks good man! Those are my buddies previous set of wheels from the looks of it! I've wanted a Silverstone AP2 for the longest time, hopefully soon..

Thanks bro, Love the car its a lot of fun.. Ive got a few things planned for it this winter... Little rough around the edges but hoping to get all the body work fixed and looking mint again.

Love how low it sits but its way to unpractical I cant get up my driveway without scraping and hearing the metal scrape on some bumps makes me cringe haha.. probably raise it just an inch all around to help it out a bit!

Decided to let go of the GTR for some Honda love hey bro?

Good choice. I've never ridden in a S2K before. Is it very tight in there?

Haha yeah man I've always loved these cars... And surprisingly I have a lot of room in there.. I'm about 6'1 210lbs and I sit In there very comfortably without issues at all.
