I paid 17 for my 2000 ap1 with 70,000km in 2010. Ap2 generally goes for more. I wouldn't pay more than 20k for one

People are asking stupid money for these the last year or so. 2 years ago they were going for 10-15k for an AP1. Now you are looking 15 minimum for a haggard one.

Most of the overpriced ones are just sitting haha, not really selling from what I've seen on kijiji.

Prices are all over the place for these. Last year, when I was looking at lots of S2000's, I used the following cars as a benchmark as I had gone to look at them and confirmed the condition. They ended up selling vs being relisted for sale over and over:

2003 - Suzuka Blue, 80,000 km's, adult owned since 2005, bone stock , sold for $16,500

2006 - Yellow, 52,000km's, bone stock except for exhaust, owned by a kid in the middle of nowhere B.C. sold for $22,500 (after starting at $27,500)

2005 - Red, 4,500 km's, adult owned, bone stock and looked brand new, listed at $32,000 but I have no idea what it actually sold for. It was on the market for at least 2 months.

Regardless of what people (usually the seller) seem to think, S2000's are not rare cars. There are lots of them out there in various states of condition/mileage/modifications.

If you wait long enough, you will find what you want.

I remember when you could get a cr for $30k. I'm scared to know what one would cost here now. I paid $17k for my 02 with 110k kms back in 09. 6 years later people are still posting close to that much.

Hardtops can be installed with the soft top still in the car. Not a problem at all.

Nope, they can stay in the car. The photo of it on my car has the soft top inside still. The guy i got it off of had his soft top in the car still too.

There are some replica hardtops that require you to remove your soft top. OEM does not,I guess a few replica's also don't.

Odd never heard of that before, I do know a few people gut the soft top for the spoon top since it is literally bolted in, but it's still not necessary

Took mine out a few days ago, saw the storm clouds in the NW and headed back home.

I've probably put 300 km's on it all summer. Seems silly owning this car to never drive it, but that's how it goes when you have a kid and need a 4 seater 99% of the time.

I hear ya!! Had this thing in the shop for the past 2 years!!! Finally get it back...3 days after my baby boy was born!!!

Trying to take it out more often but so hard to find a time to.

On a different note. I did manage to finally put on my j's style diffuser (edit-I've had it sitting in my garage for 3 years!) and I have a single exhaust. Love the diffuser but that hole on the left makes me wonder if I should fill it with something. Any ideas?

I've put probably 750km's on mine this year... was late getting it out, then away for a couple weekends, then did some suspension work (that needs to be tweaked still), then stampede boozing haha...

I picked up some snake skins + tenacious tape, as I already had a tear in the passenger side (which has been patched), and the drivers is starting to go, but every time I put the top down, the tenacious tape comes off. Any tips, or suggestions on what else to try? I'd love to get a minty fresh top, but I don't want to spend the money, and the dealer wouldn't swing the TSB when I picked the car up.

T1R aren't ideal. The OEM AP bushings are 10mm. T1R come in 9mm or 12mm, which means the holes will be oversized. I don't have the equipment or tools to widen out the hole either.
