i played in 5, not sure I want to move up....got stuck with a lot of lower skilled players last year....but the tier was pretty competitive.

we should get more people playing, our div 5 team could use some more players. 4 on 4 is wicked

pretty much based on your skill level...if you a little above average you can join us....thers about 4-6 friends that are the same skill level that are prob gona get placed with some singles that tried out on thier own.

BUMP FOR 2008!

Just got an e-mail from Calgary Roller Hockey, saying registration is up and running. Is anyone playing this year from beyond?

I'm going to start looking for people to set up a team, rather than getting placed with people. Let me know if your interested!!
Cost is $275 for individuals, but can drop if you make your own team of about 10-12 guys i believe.

a friend and I are thinking about registering. If I check off the ''register with a buddy box'' on the registration form, does this mean we'll be placed on the same team??

Yes - just write his name on the line below and you'll get placed together. Hey you might even end up on my team though I'll likely end up in Div 5

Perfect, thanks.

We're just looking for some rec-like play. We both play ice hockey. A few years back I played a season of roller hockey.
From the website, it looks like this league is really organized and a lot of fun!

^^ it is an absolute blast...most people don't realize just how much fun it is to play 4 on 4 with no offsides and icings...lots of scoring is only the start of it...all the skating gets you in good shape and playing with a puck does wonders for your shot if you're a ball hockey player.

Hope you have fun...

Because it was hard as hell to get on a team this year.

I am in I will sign up but I dont want to be placed on a team with clowns who will get mad if I show up drunk or hung over :)

Where is everyone getting the equipment this year? Sportcheck/Tuxedo is a rip off...

I've been trying to find some pants/girdles/skates online, but half the places don't either have much selection if their Canadian based....or if their from the states they don’t ship half the fukin brands to Canada.

www.cyclonetaylor.com is BC Based but don’t have much of anything for inline hockey.

www.hockeymonkey.com has tons, but wont ship up nike,rbk,easton....and if we pick up mission I’m not sure about brokerage costs.

I just picked up 4 new Labeda wheels from a guy on Craigslist for $20 bucks. Not bad considering Calgary roller hockey sells them for $12 each.

I've seen a few used girdles at Sportswap, but nothing great.

Hockeywheels.com isn't too bad, they also sell on ebay.

oilerfan4lyfe
03-24-2008, 03:48 PM
I always get my wheels off of eBay...got 8 Mr Sticky's for $40 including shipping and the guy marked them with a value of $16 so no customs fees either.

If someone is looking for wheels, it's pretty likely you'll get them in time for the season even if you buy from the States, but to be sure you can check out the user

tgm_skateboards

Bought my wheels from them last year - the wheels are nothing super special, but they're not that expensive and they can ship xpresspost from Ontario for pretty cheap so you'll have them in a week.

04-09-2008, 09:55 PM
im interested in joining but have no clue where to start in joining a team...ive played alot of organized ice hockey and rollerhockey just for fun. what is the scheduling like? ie. practices and game days/times?

md14
04-09-2008, 11:38 PM
www.calgaryrollerhockey.com

Is your best bet for info. The deadline has already passed though, so your going to have to pay a $25 late fee to signup.

Theres no practices unless your team chooses to have one and games are 3 times a week either mon/wed/sun or tues/thurs/sun depending in what division you play in. Times are usually later on 6pm - 10pm

Kind, etc? Do they fit like hockey skates? I'm an 8D for my ice hockey goalie skates!

Where can I try some on just to be sure?

sorry but i cant find any info on the guy for rink rat anymore, i havent talked to him in a few years....maybe he went outta business or somthing.....

yea id assume they fit like hockey skates, and i dont really think there is anywhere you can try them on. one alternitive is to buy old goalie skates and cut the tuuk/blade off, sand the bottom of the skate down so its flat and rivot on a chassis from a roller blade...

BUMP
Buddy was talking about it the other day so I'm wondering about gear. Missed last season cause I didn't have everything.
Where did everyone grab their equipment from? Most hockey shops don't have a wide variety or any at all. Inline Warehouse seems to be the only place in the States that will ship up brands other than Mission. Only problem is shipping which can get pretty high. Then you got the shitty exchange rate, duty and all that crap.

Street_Soldier

Helmet - Visor/Cage Optional

Rollerblades - Doesnt matter which kind

Shin guards - Same as Ice Hockey ones - you can get anywhere

Cup - Anywhere

Ice Hockey Pants OR Rollerhockey Girdle - Roller Hockey Girdles are for sale in most specialized hockey sporting good stores, Tuxedo Sports, Goalie Shop, Sports Traders, better call them to confirm before hand. Ice Hockey pants sold everywhere.

If you decide on the Roller Hockey Girdle you will need to get Roller Hockey pants which you can get everywhere you get a girdle.

If you decide on the Ice Hockey pants you just need some hockey socks.

Hockey Gloves - Sold everywhere

The Rest of the equipment is optional that includes: shoulder pads, elbow pads, mouth guard.

I find that you can find everything in town for a decent price. A bunch of players on my team bought stuff online but the name of the site escapes me.
