go buy one, i got one from crappy tire for like $30. I used it once and let it to a buddy for a case. Definatly paid for itself.

It was the cheap cheap one so they might not have it in stock

Not sure if they still do it, but I thought Canadian Tire had a tool borrowing service. I remember when I replaced my shocks, I was able to borrow (for free, just had to put down a refundable deposit) the spring compressor. Mind you, it wasn't a very good spring compressor but it did the job. Anyways, the other un-ethical thing to do is just buy and return unsatisfied! :)

part source and auto value has them to rent out and all you have to do is put like a $100 deposit down and when you bring it back you get a 100% of the deposit back. i rented one from both places when i did my shocks. dont waste your money to go out and buy one if your just gonna use it one time

Part source rents them for free.

You go in, put a deposit down. Bring it back for a full refund.

I got mine from Autovalue last time. The ones they rent out suck.

I prefer using the hydraulic ones that shops have. They're a lot nicer on your springs because they compress them evenly. I would take them to a shop and just pay them the half-hour or hour to do it for you.
