Hey guys, I'm looking to get a SFF (one of those tiny desktop computer towers) so I can hook it up to TV in the living room.

Needs to be decently fast, as I will be outputting a lot of 1080p videos from it and that seems to require a bit of power. Let me know what you have and what you're asking. Thanks!

Check my thread here in Beyond or this one...

Option 2 or 4....either one could get a nice quiet X600pro as well.....

Needs to be at least an Athalon64 3500+, or equivalent Intel chip (Core 2 Duo preferably). CANNOT have any clear sides on the case (ie: plastic side window with a thousand blue LEDs visible).

Bump!

You don't need much of a computer if you just use it to play movies.. but if you are going all the way up to 1080p, you are going to need a beast machine to do it without stuttering. Even with a 8800GTX and the new quad core Intel displaying 1080p (from BluRay discs) CPU usage gets up to 80%. a 3500+ will NOT cut it for 1080p, but will be fine for 720p.

you should get Fiatman to build you something :D the comp he built for me is fantastic! Great prices too.

I could change the MB and CPU on this to an E6400 core2 Duo and the MB to an Intel 946GZis (mATX core2 compatible)...
REALLY Nice HTPC:
-AMD sempron 2800+ CPU (chosen for low heat/less fan required)

-1GB DDR2 RAM (2X512MB)
-250GB SATA2 HDD (Maxtor Maxline-nice quiet drive)
-Hauppauge PVR-350 TV tuner, with Vista-compatible remote! An Awesome Tuner card.
-Antec 400W super quiet power supply
-Samsung 18X DVD burner, black, Diskette drive too!
-Beautiful case....Thermaltake Mozart SX-here's a link:

System is fully XP MCE compatible......
Price: $665, or $775 with MCE fully installed, incl full disk/docs/COA...With a core2 E6400, it'd be $890/$1000 with MCE

Oh, and I'll be in Calgary April 9-13 in case anyone wants a delivery :D
