On my car deck there is a setting that changes the Hz (i believe its that), right now its at 80Hz. Can anyone explain what lowering/raising it would do?

Check your manual. If you don't have it, find it online from the manufacturers website.

If you can imagine one of those 7-8 band equalizer bars, that's what each of those "Hz" settings is for. So if you adjusted to say, your example of 80Hz, you can then adjust its level to pos. or neg. of a certain value. It's basically for you to fine tune your bass, mids, and trebles.

My car deck has the function too, but unless you have a very picky ear and are not driving around (ie. sitting in your car with the car off), you won't notice the difference in sound.

I believe the 80Hz could be for the low pass and high pass filter. They are the cut off frequency for either your sub or speakers. For example, if set at 80 Hz for you sub, only the sound below 80Hz would make it to your sub.

smaller number is lower frequency and deeper bass.

should also be able to change the width of frequency that is changed.......

80hz with a low width is what I like best.
