View Full Version : To the fucking moron travelling the wrong way down Macleoud...

I'm getting off work last night about midnight, turn left off 18th ave to Macleoud trail south just before the Talisman centre, I'm driving in the left lane, come around the bend, only to see a fucking car driving HEAD ON RIGHT AT ME.

Like WHAT THE FUCK are you doing. I had to slam on my brakes, missing your car by <10ft. Are you fucking drunk or something!? How the hell do you get going the wrong way on that road?

The worst part is, this is the second time it's happened to me in the last year. What the hell is with drivers these days? I'm sure I have some nice flat spots on my good tires now, I sure smoked them good

Heh, that place is fucking scary. You always see "racers" speeding down the hill at rediculous speeds (like 120 km/h+) when they know a curve is coming. Then at that speed, they try to stay in their lane going into the curve and end up having to slide into a lane to the left almost hitting the car in that lane. WTF? It's the same going past Talisman center on that left curve too. There's been dozens of times on a Friday night where I've almost been hit by some jackass trying to do 100+ on that curve.

:thumbsdow

how do you corner balance a civic? Put a peanut under each wheel and whichever one breaks, is the one that needs weight removed?

:dunno:

i know this thread went off topic in a hilarious fashion, but i was actually on macleod at the same time that this guy was going the wrong way, musta been right behind you, he slammed on his brake and backed up unto 18ave behind the casino as our light turned green heading south and he saw the row of headlights coming lol
we were all like...wtf. but nothing to freak out about, i can admit that on occasion i've turned onto a one way the wrong way downtown before, pretty scary moment seeing the headlights coming... no ones perfect :)

Most likely some JDM guy that doesn't understand that just because his steering wheel is on the wrong side it doesn't mean he should drive on the wrong side. ;)

This guy did a U-turn in the middle of the road, and pulled into the talisman centre. Must have been another guy going the wrong way that night at the same time in the same spot. Damn.

Edit: oh, and this car was purple I think, can't remember what it was, maybe a sunbird.

I saw an old lady come out the wrong way from Talisman last year right into oncoming traffic. I don't think she even realized what was going on even after she past us

Whats with that area???

I saw this too last week at the same place, couldn't figure out why all the cars were slowing down for nothing and then I noticed the car facing the wrong direction.

A bit off topic but i was also driving down macleod one night and i thought it would be a good idea to turn off my headlights because my windshield is tinted, so therefore i can't see shit anyways, so why deplete the life of my crazy HID's when my headlights don't do shit for me? It can't be hazardous as i deleted my corner lights and use halos.

Jokes aside, the sad part of all of this is that HID bulbs last on average 10 years before they need to be replaced

haha

I see people that turn down the wrong side of the road all the time on Sarcee trail before Westhills always thought it was a dumb intersection setup they have there. How does someone get on the wrong side of Macleod there though, isn't there a meridian the whole length?

Where I saw this happen on MacLeod is where it splits into two one way streets. There is a parking lot on the west side of the northbound lane, the car must've exited the parking lot turning right (southbound) thinking it was a two-way street.

My favourite is right around the old Children's Hospital there. There's a sliproad coming off of Crowchild NB (the sliproad goes east) and there's a lane right beside it that's going west, ONTO Crowchild. All the time, I've seen people going from the street that the Hospital is on, turning left, and going down the sliproad that comes off of Crowchild.

I've driven down the wrong way on 12 Avenue once, 3 days after I bought my car. I saw headlights coming at me so I decided to pull over and let them go by. They didn't go by, they were accompanied by more red and blue lights on top. Surprisingly I got no ticket and was told to turn around and go home.
But ya, I've driven in a number of different provinces right from here to the east coast and Calgary has the worst drivers I've ever seen anywhere. Constantly I have people just merge into my lane and I have to slam on the brakes because I'm next to them. One time I was downtown and the guy in the straight lane turned in front of me so I honked at him. Then 20 seconds later the person in the turning lane went straight so I honked at him. I was like...."Am I a shit magnet?"

They're really good engines, sometimes we shouldnt blame the engine and possibly think what the operator is doing to it....:drama:
