I chimp, but usually for checking exposure.

Of course, I have my camera defaulted to the RGB histogram with a thumbnail preview screen....I think its important

Yeah it's a habit that's for sure but I can't help it! I'm not good enough to know if it turned out as planned

Of course I chimp. If I didn't feel that the ability to review images was a huge asset, I'd always shoot film.

If you have the tools, use them.

Haha, I find I don't chimp as much as I used to when I use my 20D. The LCD never seems to look the same as on monitor (in terms of colour, contrast, and brightness) and I don't use the histogram that often.

i do it, that's the whole point of the rear lcd, and the whole point of a DSLR.

I'll do it when I'm trying to get a real nice shot, like a landscape. But if there's any sort of action that's constantly changing, I worry about that stuff later.

I set my camera to not preview images after they've been shot. That way I can keep shooting immediately.

I dunno, it's okay to check your exposure once and a while but when shooting something that requires your constant attention (sports, the wedding ceremony, etc.) I think chimping can be a real drawback...

:dunno:

I watched a wedding photographer on two occassions miss a couple of good shots because of chimping... oh well I got the shots instead.

I treat my digital cameras almost like a film camera when I shoot events... I check the exposure but for the rest of the shoot (until I have time) that lcd stays off. I have it set not to come on after each shot as well... I find that annoying personally.

It's all up to shooting style, do whatever you like and works for you.

True enough. When I chimp, it's usually first thing to make sure I haven't done something utterly retarded to mess up my exposure, and after that I'll do it in the quiet moments once in a while to check a shot or two that I might want to re-do if I felt iffy about them.
