Saw this on Jalopnik. Where should the engine from the wrecked Enzo go?

I found this (also via jalonik) 1960 Plymouth Rambler station wagon with a 360 Modena powerplant, so if you can afford to buy the engine you can also afford to do the work fitting it into the back of a minivan or truckbed.

that is fucking cool hahaha...
i think an enzo engine would be sick in anything? but nothing could handle it so whats it matter. but if you could fit in the front of an FD id say that. or and S14 haha..

Lol you realize Big blocks have much more torque right? Many frames could handle that.. Almost anything actually.

I'd like to see it in a delorean personally. Alreayd mid engine.

I Didnt mean frame wise, they just arent made to drive with that much power. like regarding traction, balance etc etc... but anything can be modified right haha?

Delorean's were made for one thing and one thing only - Flux Capacitors.

Hmm, not even the BMW? I would think if it was big enough for a 3.0l I6, a 6 l V12 would be OK?

But I guess you'll probably have to put the seats all the way forward on the MR2.

By that reasoning I could put a V8 in my Integra because it has an inline 4.

Well, being FWD kind of makes it difficult I guess, I don't know how you could set that up (that's why Integra isn't one of the choices  ), but by that reasoning, the 240SX is also I4 and it can take a V8 no problem.

I think an AE86 would be the worst choice... The reason those cars drive so well is because of the weight distribution and balance, and an Enzo engine weighs nowhere close to a 4AG.

Ummm.. of all of the cars you listed, none of them are compatible with the a mid engine longitudinal drivetrain.. you would only be able to use the engine. Given the cost of a Ferrari engine alone, that really defeats the purpose of using a ferrari engine at all when the majority of the options you listed would require use of a non-ferrari transmission.

Yeah, I just listed the most popular engine swap candidates off the top of my head. I've read some more about it and looked at a few other options.

How about:

- Toyota Previa/Estima - Mid Engined!

- Panther platform (Lincoln Town Car or Mercury Grand Marquis)

- Early 90s Benz 600SEC (also V12, so shouldn't be too bad right?)

- Subaru Legacy Wagon

I think you're all taking this the wrong way.

If you have enough money to get an engine from a wrecked enzo, you probably have enough money to modify ANY car to handle the engine.

With enough money, you can pretty much do anything.

That rambler is awesome though.

If it had to be in any of those cars an FD would be the one.

"You forgot to put Ariel Atom in the poll."
That would be sweet, but your tripling the weight.

you can name all the cars in the world for the swap, but in the end. its not worth it.

ignore the fact that anything over 300hp in an ae86 begins to tear the car apart.

A Porsche 914 would be a good candidate too. Lightweight with go-kart like handling.

If u put the Enzo engine in the Atom it would just rip itself off the frame...

stevescivic
04-19-2007, 11:17 AM
how about a 2nd gen crx? haha the Enzo motor would literally rip the chassis in half and the driver would have to straddle the engine to drive it (if even remotely possible that is!). Maybe a radio controlled crx with an Enzo engine in it?

Or a 944, i had a (early) 85' and it lots of room in the engine bay. Seen one that had a big block V8 in it!

And yeah the handling is stupid for a car that cheap, but you'd need to upgrade the tranny big time.

Yeah, to try to cram and enzo engine into an MR2 would me morotic, but the end result would be pretty damn cool.

All of the choice would be crazy, but a Ferrari Dino would be neat, as their such small and nimble cars.

An F40 would be interesting.

I remember seeing pics of a V12 355, I think they were testing the Enzo engine before the release.

Ferrari tested the Enzo engine in a elongated 360 before building the Enzo. I can't find the pics though, maybe it was a 430.

yeah i'd have to say into an mr2.
fit it right into the back, and with this tiny little car (if its possible) it would freakin fly. and the handling would be sweet with the engine in the rear.
