Got an S2000

Traded a good friend of mine, got some cash on top. We'll see how i like it.
The WRX was fun awsome winter car, but I love trying new cars and felt this is the the right time to try something Like an S2K so I went for it. Its stock with 50K kms and it's a 2000.

Thanks guys. The WRX is definatelly faster than this car. Looks like I keep buying slower and slower cars ;)

But like I said I like trying out different cars. Don't know how long I will keep this one. I guess I am just trying to find something that will keep me interested for a while. Plus the circle is now complete: FWD to AWD to RWD.

This will stay stock.

The WRX is a faster car.

No torque + narrow power band = not as fast as a WRX.

That said, the S2000 is probably a nicer drive in most aspects.

That’s just straight line speed. Around a road course like Race City the S2000 would leave a WRX in the dust. Better braking, better handling. The WRX feels faster due to torque and turbo. The S2000 has a pretty linear power delivery even with the vtec so it’s deceptively quick. It also keeps pushing hard at high speeds and doesn’t taper off like a lot of turbocharged cars. In reality they’re about equal in terms of straight line speed, so I don’t know how anyone can say the WRX is flat out faster, quicker because the S2000 has no torque.

at sea level sure they are pretty even. At our altitude, the s2000 will get destroyed in a straight line.

stock s2000 is just a touch faster!
but when the wrx is very very lightly modded! the s2000 doesnt stand a chance... but this is only straight line we are talking about

I am just going by my personal experiences. I took the WRX out once to RC stock and hit 14.2 @ 94 mph. I have never seen a stock S2K run anywhere near that quick there.

Anyways, I drove it to work today. It's just fine around town, the powerband is complete opposite of the WRX but everyone knows that. It's just a different type of driving. I wanted to try this car for the summer so I can make my own decision as to what type(s) of car I like the most. I don't think this will go down the quarter because in my 100+ passes I have never EVER hit 15s or slower. I suspect the S2K would pull that off :rofl: :banghead:

plus the newer wrx's arent they alot faster then the older ones?

2 of my friends ran their s2000's at RC and they both got mid-high 14's...mind you they were both not stock (h/i/e)

so of course the wrx is faster, but IMO the s2k is soo much nicer to just look at (not saying wrx isnt nice too but you know) and it is a car Ive allways respected...hell i too almost bought one last summer but someone else managed to snatch the deal from me, next time i find one and the time and price is right, its mine lol :D

They are because they switched from the ej20 to the ej25 and gained that extra 0.5L. Makes the turbo less laggy and the powerband much more usable even if overall HP is down 3-4HP.

If you won't take it down the quarter Aleks you should try to auto X it might be fun to try something new!

You were faster stock so now you'd just kill me with your mods haha. I wanted the VF39 but realized it would not be the same thing. It would never be an Sti. I think I learned a lesson...(always go for the top model :)) I definatelly want a ride though. Pick a nice weekend and we can go for a ride...

That said, the S2000 is probably a nicer drive in most aspects. Sigh, again you talk out of your ass. Look at this dyno sheet. See how the torque curve is flat and the horsepower curve is linear? What that means is that the powerband is VERY wide and the engine is ridiculously well tuned. As for having no torque, that isn't a big deal, because the gearing takes such good advantage of it.

Anyway, the reason the WRX is faster than an S2K here is due to the altitude. Boosted cars don't suffer from high altitudes nearly as much as NA cars do.

At sea level, stock for stock, the S will walk the WRX.
The WRX will run out of air when the S continues to breath easy.
The only advantage the WRX is at the launch, AWD and all. If both are rolling it is over for the WRX with equal drivers.
