View Full Version : 'REAL' North American Windshields?

I was calling around for windshield replacements this morning and they all quoted me the exact same price.

One place mentioned that they use 'a real North American windshield' not like these other cheap companies that use low-quality 'Chinese Windshields'. Is there such a thing?

Any help would be appreciated. :)

I don't know, prehaps the Chinese Windshields are made of rice instead of sand. HAHAHA...jk :dunno:

If you want to get a real quoted price, mention that you are NOT going thru your insurance company and they will get you an actual price. Most places assume it will be covered through insurance so they'll quote full list price.

Agreed. I've had 3 windshields done there, they do good work too.

There are 2 types of windshields.

'Chinese Windshields'
The one that is mostly installed without people knowing is the windshield with slight defects in it (fish eyes). There are distortions in the windshield and they sometimes give people headaches.

'North American windshield'
The other type is the windshields that have no defects. This is the one that cost more but is worth it.

Just make sure if you do decide to go get the one that has no defects in it that they actually install the right one and not just charge you for it.

Haven't heard it called like that before but....
Hope this helps:devil:

I've never heard of that..who knows though.

Although when we replaced our windshield (twice), you have the option of getting OEM glass ($$$) or aftermarket brand. I think the aftermarket one for ours was made by Carlex or something.

I didn't really read this thread, but I think, from what one of my moms friends said, is that most of the factory windshields are made in Finland, supposed to be a major export, can't see it being the only country making them though...
