Lucas killed the legend of Star Wars with the prequels, not to mention the DVD release of the original trilogy which featured his stupid additions. Some kids will only ever see these versions and not the original and now rare copies. (I still have the THX VHS version which is the best. Re-mastered and restored original with no stupid scene additions). I think because of all this the legend of Star Wars is much less than it would have been otherwise and it would have gotten first place IMO. Never seen Serenity but it sounds interesting.

I’m glad Blade Runner got the recognition is deserves. In many ways should have probably been number 1

Readers must have been high, Serenity was a great movie, and Firefly was an excellent show, but neither comes even close to matching the sweeping success of Star Wars. Name one line from Serenity that almost anyone in the modern world will instantly recognize, I bet you can't. However, "Luke... I am your father," is epic. Serenity didn't have outright badass villains like Vader, it didn't have the story that Star Wars did, it just doesn't match up.

I'd say it's a bit obvious that SFX readers are Serenity fans, and that's fine. However, they're a rather bias sample and not really indicative of the reality of the Star Wars juggernaut.
