That is illegal and indictable by a court of law.

That means that if you are caught, you will spend a long, long time in Jail for that.

It's also nearly impossible to lower the mileage on a car without having definate signs - the numbers usually dont line up, a colored fluid smears the numbers on some vehicles, and the needle on the speedometer will vibrate while accelerating.

I am not actually one that is going to that,
but I want to buy the car and I suspect that something like that has been done on that car.
And the person who is selling the car said that it was impossible to do on BMW car

It is possible, and it's not hard to do. Buy yourself a gauge cluster from a Junkyard and play with the numbers - very easy.

they could also just bought a new guage cluster with lower km on it and put it in. It would look factory if done right.

What year is bmw. I even then the E36 bmw is all digital. Not sure tho. If so, then its even harder to due, cause u gotta mess with on board computer or something. hell it might not even be possible. I think if its e36 and up it should be fine. Why u think guy messed with it?

Do a car fax and see if there is possible odometer rollback.:)

Usually the condition of the car will tell you a lot, the seats, body, etc will indicate how much the car was used.

digital odometers can sometimes still be changed by replacing the entire guage cluster. Not sure if all digital odometers are stored in the guage cluster though.

And not sure if a light will come on or if the computer will record that the guage cluster has been replaced/removed.

You want a E36 with legitimate low mileage? Check mine now :D

The condition of the car will speak for mileage itself.

I remember having an old Ford F150 that had a switch under the seat you'd hit the switch and the guage gluster would stop working and thus the odomete would stop going up. The down side is you couldn't see how fast you were going but at least the trucks mileage wouldn't go up so you wouldn't have to worry about rolling it back when your lease was up if you went over mileage. :)
