I hadn't seen any threads on Secret Streets yet for this year, and i noticed a bunch of good info on the race city website regarding it, and it says it starts up in April, which is here.

For those who dont know what Secret Streets is there is some general info on RCS's site:
http://www.racecity.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=category&sectionid=6&id=17&Itemid=47

And they now have a rules sheet available online for download so you know if you'll get to race before you get out there:
http://www.racecity.com/index.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_download&gid=3&Itemid=84

Looking forward to seeing some nice cars and quick times again this year from the Beyond Crew.

What's new on your car this year?
What was your best pass last year?
What do you hope to hit this year?

EDIT: Just saw some new info on their site, it looks like officially the first night fore Secret Streets is May 4th

Thanks, this is just what I was looking for! I've been putting parts into my car all winter, but I sure as hell don't want to test it out on the streets.

It would be my first time going. Are people hard on noobs that can't launch? ;)

Anyway to follow the thread:

What's new on your car this year?
Automatic -> 5-Speed transmission swap, rps lightweight flywheel, rps max clutch, stoptech slotted brake kit, adjustible tension rods...uhh other random stuff :)

Nothing wrong with that! I ran 17's all night when I had my 91 Teg and I danced around for an hour once I got it down to 16.7.

The average car on a Friday night there is probably doing 15.0 or slower.

You'll only get laughed at if you have LED squirters and plastic spinners.

Exactly!

After a few times, you will ignore the car staged next to you unless you know them. It's all about improving your own time more than beating the guy next to you. Most of the time, I have no idea whether the current 1/4 mile I just finished is faster than another one, and whether I was faster than the other guy until I get that timeslip.

I'm hoping to have my car done by the end of summer. If so:

What's new on your car this year? Engine swap, turbo, standalone
What was your best pass last year? [email protected] on 2.2L turbo engine
What do you hope to hit this year?
Low 14s, maybe high 13s if traction allows

Other car
What's new on your car this year? higher boost + tune + emissions removal
What was your best pass last year? Didn't run it last year
What do you hope to hit this year?
Low 14s?

As for the "1st time at the track" thing. I remember the first time I staged I fumbled the launch, fell out of boost. It was a big rush though. Lots of fun.

New mods : h23 headswap, tie bars, lighter rims, soon to be turbo kit, (still need i/c and piping done  )

Nobody there takes things too seriously, its pretty cool. Last year there was a 20+ second minivan, a handful of stock 18sec cavs and sunfires, and an HHR and PT cruiser that would always go at it... 17 seconds at a time.:D

15s/high 14s are around what a lot of the 300ZX TTs there run.

Hey I will line up with you. I have always wanted to try out the track, never have been before. I will most likely be in the high 16's or 17's with my nice 115whp (if I am lucky!).

I have always been afraid to be laughed at around the track, but if you guys say its pretty laid back I think I will try it this year.

People will laugh at you, but don't worry, they're all the wanna-be's that are in the stands, while you're stick making your way around the track to line up again.

My first time down, my wife was sitting in the stands, and I think I passed a 14.8 (shifted BADLY into 2nd), she said a bunch of guys were ripping on my mustang, but who cares what anyone says, you're there to have a good time, and enjoy your car, even if you run 17's it's still a blast to run it.

You can't hear the comments in the stands if you're on the track. Besides, it is a lot more fun in the driver's seat than sitting in the stands heckling people who can't even hear you.

Nope, I raced a stock LGT last year when I still had my 06 WRX. He was conistent in the low 15s. I think the Legacy should be good for mid 14s stock if you know what you're doing.

I wouldnt worry bro, I know a guy whos car cratered on the line last year and as embarassing as you would think, he said it wasnt so bad. Said like EVERYBODY was trying to help him and it he felt better seeing all the help and support everybody projects.

The crowd around race city is pretty slack and get along quite well i've noticed.

I might make it out this year to see what i can do...

Hopefully 15's :D (hopefully faster... haha)

Then we can find out how many of these 12 second cars run 14's.

You said that last year when you called Brad out

Last year

We had trouble programing the 2 step Vpro with the Auto Tranny and the T78 turbo. We could never dyno the car properly because the car wanted to down shift
on the dyno. So the car was in and out of tunning last year (Which was hard since we could no use the dyno).

This year we did the 6speed swap which means new cluch, tranny, ..etc.
So i will have to break it in first and at the end of the month get it on the dyno and get it all tuned properly

Then i will be in at Raced city in June.

Yep, not gonna get close to that..... granted an A4 weighs more, and you lose 23% in DTL, my GT28rs A4 went 13.9 missing a gear.. Dom's Jetta went 12.8 and his turbo is significantly larger then a 28r.. and you would need drag radials...

Not sure if I will bring my S4 out... like to see what it does on race gas. Mid 12's low 13's I think?? (Its Stage 3)

G35/350Z about 14.5 in Calgary.

They are slow ass cars in a straight line down the 1/4.

They are very nice cars. Excellent performance on the road track. Just they happen to be not fast down the 1/4. That said, they are still awesome cars. They sound sexy, look sexy, and they handle very well.

I didn't think there was a such thing as a 2007 330. Did you mean the 335?

The 335i is quicker to 60 and 1/4 mile than the 07' G35 Sport M6.

You want to drive a fun and fast car? Take a BMW 535xi out for a spin!

Heres a tip. GOOGLE is your friend.

This thread is about what you are driving... mods.. and expectations. Not various what -ifs. Quite cluttering.

I'm hoping to give my old clutch some torture before I upgrade everything :)

hoping to beat my 15sec pass last year that I did with my slipping clutch and shitty tires. Haha, it would be hard not to beat it.
