These were posted up over on Prime, and I thought they were pretty cool.

Honda's dedicated factory for NSX production. The car is, obviously, all hand made and assembled, and everyone who puts it together is a volunteer and has been working with Honda for at least 10 years before they're considered for the NSX plant.

They since opened the plant up to S2000 and Insight production and had to add assembly lines and the robots to build those two cars. With the NSX out of production, and the S2000 and Insight on their way out, I guess this will be a quiet building for a while.

And turns out like this!

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y220/95EagleAWD/NSX%20Storage/DSC00397.jpg

This is what puts the NSX in a league of it's own compared to all the other Japanese "supercars". Everything is hand made, hand formed to fit perfectly. If it doesn't, they take it off, hammer it out a bit and try again. Panels are never really the same, really. Everything on the car is it's own.

So they hand make all the panels and support beams and outer frames...damn...DEM SUM STRONG JAPANESE!

There are no Japanese supercars, IMO.

It was actually a great debate on 780tuners, which I copied and pasted this from.

No no, as in they volunteer to go work at that plant instead of the one they are already working at, but they must have 10+ years of experience.

As some of you may know, I used to work at Honda in Tokyo some year back. I visited the CRV plant in Saitama, and what I saw was similar with these pics: everyone wearing clean uniforms, the care and craftsmanship, the clean plant, etc.

These pictures are great!

Probably makes it easy to find parts that they drop; nothing I've seen on my car is green, so it probably contrasts nicely.

You realize that the NSX is the only reason that Ferrari's have progressed from tempermental, problem prone machines to the daily-drivable (well, F355 and up) machines that they are now?

Haha!

Whatever you need to tell yourself to justify spending $35k on a 1991 I guess...
Never under-estimate someones pride on beyond

Nice plant though. Too bad nobody wanted the things that came out of it. Or maybe it's too bad that the people who want them can only afford them after 20 years.

HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA :werd: :drama:

The NSX is a great car and I think it is in a league of its own in comparison to other japanese "supercars", but... to compare it to a Ferrari...

As much as I love NSX's, I would like to see some proof of the correlation between the improved quality of Ferrari's and a Honda that you claim.

Sure. Go jump into a 348 for 70 grand and drive it 11,000 miles in one summer with one oil change and nothing breaking. Hell, try that one with of the NEW ones.

http://www.sportscarmarket.com/articles/archives/939

Now that's just one story, but it's not uncommon. 10 bucks a mile?!! That's rediculous! And the 550 isn't even one of their MR racers, it's a V12 GT car. Dash rattles? Coolant leaks? Oil leaks? On a $225,000 car? You have to be kidding me. My (1991 MSRP $80,000) NSX is 16 this year (just last week, actually). The only thing rattling is my aftermarket amp which I'm tackling this afternoon. Nothing leaks. It does burn a bit of oil when you bag on it. So maybe it's not true, Ferrari's are still tempermental, problem-prone machines.

I forgot, I have broken something on my car. A coil pack went and was replaced for $320. So since I've bought it, I've driven it almost 13,000 miles; an oil change for $120 and the coil for $320. 29 cents per mile. Not bad, IMO.

And for those that will come in and say the NSX is slow, it will trump a 328 and outperform a 348, and the NA2 models have no problem keeping up with an F355... so they're not that slow.

But of course, it doesn't have that Ferrari prestige... and that is a big deal, even to me, since I love Ferrari's. But since I can't afford one, and don't want to deal with the maintenance, I'm very happy with my NSX.

man you didn't know? if theres no Ferrari badge then everything else sucks and cannot compare to it. No matter how great the car ACTUALLY is, superficially without the Ferrari badge its worthless, i love beyond.

I won't say everything else sucks, but NOTHING compares to a Ferrari. Not a Lambo, Porsche, Lotus, nothing. There is definately a magic at work there, and when you see one you know it, and when you sit in one... you can even smell it.

So maybe I'm wrong.

Ferrari's are still garbage to own, I guess.

I wasn't trying to attack you personaly and I think that is the first time some one has ever admitted that they were just wrong and left it at that. = respect from me.

I was just expecting some story about how ferrari made crap cars and then came along the NSX that was the first reliable mid engine high performance sports car which led to Honda helping Ferrari develop a more reliable car. something to that effect.

oh and NSX is one of the top cars on my list to one day own:thumbsup:

As Ryan knows I was considering selling my NSX to buy a Ferrari 348 a couple months ago, Zahir was nice enough to give me a tour of his shop, they started a 348 up and let me look it over and let me sit in the one that I was looking at. In the end I realized I wasn't ready for it yet, I couldn't see enough advantages to go to the Ferrari. I still really want one but I think I'll try a Porsch 993 first, it may not have the sound of the F-car but I think it'll be the better car for what I want.
