I am in the market for an HID kit. I shop around and read for hours before I spend money on mod parts, as I like to do my research to find quality products.

Like the Xennon bulb epidemic, there are many HID choices, and like the HID esce' bulbs out there, there are many lemon products out there too. Now if your car is a lemon already then the cheap price is for you! But if you desire quality in an HID product then read this FAQ on HID's I found. It's the best reference I have found on what I needed to know before purchacing an HID kit.

Enjoy, and dont hate the player, hate the game.

So umm, that site basically tells you not to buy any kit in favour of proper retrofits. What are you gonna retrofit?

My lexus already has stock hid's, the HID's Im looking for is for my vr4. It has stock halogen projectors now. I'm reading up on retro fits, but I'm kinda lazy on doing the work.

If someone knows an experienced projector retro fitter in Calgary, let me know.

Yeah a few people have retro'd e-classes like mine and it can take upto 50 hrs of goofing around....yours wouldnt take that long since it is a projector swap more than a retrofit.

Use E55 bi-xenon projectors from ebay....that's what I am doing for my retro this summer.

EDIT: Dayclone, 6000K is very very blue, closest to white (useable light) is 4300K.

Ya there have only been a handfull that have doen and they are no longer active on the boards, plus the 99 headlights are different than all the others so there is less modding of them. Most just use the stock halogen projector w/ hid.

Legendboy did a cadallac retro on his car, I'll probly bug him about if I cant find someone professional.

Ya the guy that did it a few years ago said it took him 3 hours from start to end to put in tsx projectors. He said something about just using longer screws. I really like the TSX color effect mod effect, and if they only took him 3 hours then it seems like the right choice despite if its not as good as the others.

TSX ultimate color mod.

http://www.haknslash.com/pictures/HID/fritenitesretro/panoramicbeam.jpg TSX projectors are pretty good man...they're very similiar to S2k projectors...wide spread, bright, razor sharp cutoff...

The colour mod is where you basically use washers or longer screws to mount the projector lense a bit further away from the bowl.
