what car would you get for about $30,000 including GST and if applicable PST. Doesn't have to be a new car but if it is an old car can't be older than 3 years old. oh , and I'm a real car novice so you may have to specify the car and not just give abreviations:D

what are you looing for? jap, euro, or domestic? sport or luxury? rwd or fwd?

cali
06-06-2003, 03:17 PM
Personally, I'm looking for something preferably european or japanese, looking for luxury with a sporty edge, rear wheel drive is nice but not a requirement, and fwd will do just fine (never ad anything but so no big deal). Oh, and if it helps to complicate things, I'm a girl but no kids yet and none for a while, but I'm no teeny bopper girl.

OK good luck getting everything you want in a new car for 30 and under. You looking at spending at least 40 for what you want, closer to 50. I suggest you pick up the Auto Trader and start looking there.

Get a slightly used Audi A4 or new Volkswagen Jetta/GTI. You get a lot of luxury for the price, including leather. Also very sporty, the 1.8T engine is one of the few oem turbos in the price range and is quite quick. If you go VW you can probably spend a little bit on mods, like throw on some aftermarket wheels to give you that custom look.

If you care a bit less about luxury and more about the sporty part, you can afford a WRX for that much. I don't think the interior is as nice, but it will be fast!!

What kind of car ? 4 doors sedan ?? for $28K plus GST....?

If for new car, a RSX is a good choice or under $30K or get a 2002/2003 used RSX-type S !
Any new Accord, or Camry are good car .. but .. boring ... :( Mazda 6 is nice .. but .. it is a Mazda ...

For 3 yr old used car, if you like "image", a 2001 BENZ C240 classic is not bad for under $30K, just make sure don't get that ulgy Benz hatch back...

A 2001 BMW 320i should be under $30K as well, and great "over-all" car too ! :(

Also 2002 Audi A4 1.8 is a good choice too !
If you want a very fast, and dont' care about qulity and image, you can get a neon Turbo, for $28K plus GST, they are not that bad..

If you want a "problem free" preium car, and RWD an 3 yrs old IS300 is nice too ! (if you don't mind the plain look of it !)

A good 2002 WRX is also nice car for your price range too .. :poosie:

Oh .. so many choices !! do you consider SUV as well ? if yes, then a 2000 RX300 or QX4 ! (just over 3 yrs old, but still under warranty !)

Anyway, good luck !

Oh . you can also spend $18,000 on a civic, and sepnd $12K to "rice" it, and make us laugh ! .... ha ha .. :D (j/k)

A E55 for $ 40K ? they are $120K new with taxes,.. and came out in 2000 right ? wow ..... that is cheap !

Dude, how's your crack pipe treating ya? LOL

A 2000 E55 (W210 chassis) still nets $55-60K As per many of my sources this week, as I am going to be in the market for a 2000 myself by the end of this year. The E55 came out in 1999 and they are still fetching $45-48K. A 2002 E55 is $75-80K if you can find one....

2003 and up (W211 chassis) base were $113K full options run $131K!

30 grand? I would finish all of my existing projects.

What would I buy? Probably a new Ducati S4R 996 Monster...

Oh, you mean, What Car???
Lets see...a New car. Hmmm...The Nissan Skyline appeals to me.
Or a nice old mid nineties Twin Turbo 300Z or a 97 Supra (IF I could find one at that price)
Aw Fuck! I would get something that would not depreciate that I could actually drive, which means that the Big Block muscle from the Sixties os out of the picture.

I would build a Rod.

I would buy a glass bodied 34 or 37 Ford 3 or 5 window coupe, and use the tube chassis and hmmm...a modular V8 or for economy and daily practicality, a Lexus/Infiniti or Nissan V6 from a crashed junkyard donor.

Or a mid sixties small block Mustang with modern 4 wheel disc brake conversion and a modular 4.6 in place of the old 289/302.

Man, there is a lot to consider. You are looking for a cool, reliable, individual car with street credibility yet practical, right? Then you wont like my Alfa...

Hey - how about a used $10,000 Diesel Mercedes Benz and the motorcycle of your dreams? Thats more like it!

Won't get European if it's older than 3 years (out of warranty). And they are rarely sold under $30K for under 3 years unless it's stripped or something is wrong.

My choices:

Coupe: 02 RSX-S
Sedan: 04 SRT-4 ($27K) or 04 Mazda 3 GT($21K)
SUV: 04 RAV-4 or 03 Xterra SC

Won't mind a 2000+ GS400 either, they usually goes for around $30K-$35K.
