make sure your power and RCA's dont run together also check if your power runs next to any speaker wire.

you can also get a ground loop isolator to hook up to the rcas, it'll probably take out the whine, as well if they are too long for the car (ie 6 meter ones) make sure they are not coiled,

sovar my MR2 makes the exact same whine.

It's like a low pitched scream that gets louder as you turn up the volume right? I am trying to look into getting this fixed also, if you have any luck please PM me.

What kind of deck is it? It might even be the RCA outputs on the deck that are causing the problem. I know some Pioneers had this problem a few years ago. Are you able to try another deck and see if you still get the sound?

the deck is a pioneer DEH-P6800MP, its less than a year old, and i bought it new. brand new apline type x RCA's i bought and put in when i thought they were causing the noise. the sound seems to be mostly related to power steering, because when i move the wheel, the pitch changes. also, i thought id mention that the power steering is electric, not belt-driven.

iil try that in a minute...but i just accidentally blew my dome lights fuse, and the noise was almost completely stopped...until i put a new fuse in. no idea how that works...

grounded the metal outer shield on the rear RCA's and the noise was SLIGHTLY reduced. i dont have enough hands to ground em all, and i called it a night anyways. iil be back out there again tommorow.

was just looking for some info around some sites and i got this so far, not sure if it will help.

Audio system: Several problems with the sound system including CD player that skips or fails to play due to lens distortion (1992), CD skips or displays "ERR" (1992-92), cassette tapes will not eject (1990), *whining noise from the speakers produced by alternator* (1991), sound cuts out in cold weather (1991).

its an EHPS (Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering) whine, also common in the mr2 and usually very difficult to find.
