Was perusing through old UFC fights on Youtube when I came across this lil vid:

World Combat League?

Well, I googled it, and to my utter surprise, it's a team fighting league that is organized by none other than CHUCK FREAKIN NORRIS O_O!!!!! Will definitely be keeping my eyes on this. It seems to be more focused on straight stand-up martial arts vs mixed martial arts, but some of the hits in the vid ^^^^ rock :D

Update: apparently, last year was the inaugral year... but it was only shown on a very select few PPV's. Hopefully it becomes more popular o_O

This league is a lot faster paced it seems vs UFC (least the newer ufc...)

I dunno, seeing a couple guys throw 2-3 punches then end up in a clinch on the ground and rolling around for the entire round bores the fuck out of me

Take 20 fights from the UFC and put together a 3 min highlight video and you will get the same results. It might look really cool right now but once you watch all the fights it will probably be boring. This is just my opinion though, but i really like how there is no ring/cage makes it look more...realistic i guess you could say.

well, without the cage, there's nothing to back up against and lean on. It's all stand up fighting. It's also apparently no ground grappling allowed. Clinches, yes, but no taking to the ground. I think it makes for a more stand-up match, pardon the pun.
