I recently purchased a replacement shift knob for my car (1999.5 VW Jetta) and am having some troubles removing the current shift knob. Any clues or advice? It does not twist, or move in any way, and it appears the leather boot is attached. I have attached a pictures of the shifter, to give you an idea of what Im dealing with. (Excuse the mess, I am in the process of cleaning out my car)

Thanks.

Check out the MK4 DIY/FAQ thread. There is a walk through in there for pretty much every DIY you can think of.
