Hello,
My truck just broke as I was trying to sell it so now I can't get a new car like I was planning so in the mean time I think I should get a newer crotch rocket for cheap (gas) summer driving, until I get my truck fixed.
So what can I get for $6500 used and have alot of fun on and get some decent gas mileage?

I have been riding dirt bikes and quads all my life but have never rode a street bike, I imagine I will learn quickly though so its not like a need a total neewby bike :D

I want something fairly fast that I can do some stupid stuff on and then sell it and not lose to much $$$ ???

Any advice is appreciated :D

Please does anyone have idea of what kind of solid performing and reliable bike I could get for around that price?

Older cbr maybe. Check autotrader or biketrader whatever that version is. Just see what you can get in there...you could easily get bikes under 6500, but again depends on how much power u want, and doesnt sound like u need a little starter. my friend rode a ninja 250 for a year, 15-16 while he learned, and when he turned 16 got a brand new cbr 600....his 250 only cost like 2500$, and worked fine, again, prolly now what ur lookin for, but cheap bikes are out there

99 cbr

97 tl1000s

Go with the tl1000s if you have riding experience. That is a big fun bike but it is really big. It will loop in second if your not careful and that is without any clutching. They are sweet machines though

fire blades are very good bikes, kinda strong, and theyre a typical honda bike.

soulless, but very clean and efficient to ride.

if you want a really fun big bike for not too much, look at a kawasaki zx11r... ungodly fun, and it was the worlds fastest production bike for a lotta years, i belive until the suzuki hayabusa came out.

theyre big, and heavy, but extremely comfy and very very fast in a straight line.
once you get to know the bike and its capabilities, theyre pretty damn fast around corners too, but dont expect to stick with the newer race bred 600s... theyre just too light and agile to keep up to in a bigger older bike.

for example, 355 pounds vs 550 pounds...

why would you want to sell it? They are so nice.

Please don't call them crotch rockets. That's what people who don't know anything about sportbikes call them...

call them crotch rockets...
that way you can flirt with chicks and say "hey hun, wanna ride on my crotch rocket":poosie: :bigpimp:

I'm looking to buy the new '03 Suzuki SV 650s.. It's not exactly an all out crotch rocket but it is a good beginners bike and from the reviews I've read you'll never outrgrow it :D

supposedly though it's not the fastest it's one of the most fun bikes around and they sell for $6200 brand new so how can you go wrong? Also it's a naked bike pretty much so it won't be as disastrous when you do drop it.

I'm thinking about a 2002 Kawasaki EX500, bow cycle has them for $5500, and the 2003 Suzuki SV650S...

Is there other good bikes comparable to these two? I'll probably be looking to buy one next spring.

theres a ducatti thats very similar to the sv650, cant remember model tho.

thats all i can think of right now.

No the Ninja ZX-6R is classified as a superbike.. they make a zx-6r and zx-6rr so im assuming u mean the 1 R'd model unless there is just a ZX-6 in which case ive never heard of it.

As for the ducati, I think you're thinking of the Ducati Monsters.. those look really cool and I've heard mixed things about them. I think they are really cool but the all of the magazines totally rave about the SV650's so i think they are the way to go. For a good first bike.

They made one. It is a considered a sport touring. There is the zx6r and the zx600r. It is a sportbike that is set up to be more comfortable. Yamaha does the same thing with the yzf r6 and the yzf 600r. Suzuki also does this with the gsxr and the gsxf(katana). NOt sure if kawasaki still makes them.
