That OLD skool civic was pretty cool

Me run 15's? :)

The race between Toma (actually EVERY race between Toma) I had massive wheelspin, 13.5@107 for me, 13.9@102 for Toma. Toma's car is FRICKING FAST! Talk about GoesLikeHell! We were even to the line everytime because he got me off the line with a better reaction time (and ahem a redlight!)

My best run was a [email protected] on the right lane, and a [email protected] on the left lane. The right lane's mph is fucked, it's 1-2mph faster everytime even with the same ET. I think they fucked up the timing, cuz there's no way I should be running 109mph in Calgary. The air pressure was mega high, temps were low, and the track was prepped, so I had some good runs. 2.0 flat 60 ft time most of the time, best ever for me in any car!

Forgot to mention, I had an embarassing moment at the track. They kicked me off cuz the car wasn't registered under my name. It's registered under my dad's name cuz we wanted to save $2k in paperwork fees transfering the cars around when I upgraded to the AMG. So I had to drive to my dad to get a frickin' permission letter to run the AMG .

I'm at race city like 3x a week, you'd think they'd remember me hehe.

Toma

LOL.... I red lit on purpose on the first run cause I knew you would hand me my ass. The second run....what the hell were you doing? 1.2 second reaction time? Next time, zip up your pants BEFORE you staqe ;) Man does your car come on hard in the top end....you go FLYING by....very cool.

The Omni should be a bracket car... 14.02, 14.07, 14.008, and a 13.978. Best mph was 103.

GREAT air....betya worth 2 mph for me.

I'll be ready for you next week Rage :D

He's only making reference to the street races that go on Saturday nights in the industrial area where they burn out in parking lots. I dont think hes implying anything else..:dunno:

! I was practicing my launches, not my reaction time! You go out and launch so hard I had to play catch up everytime. At least from a distance, people are seeing who won based on the numbers on the timing boards. I don't think anyone noticed how close we actually are at the finish line!

I'll try to launch better against you next week. I doubt I'll be able to repeat that 13.11 performance unless the track is in good shape though!

Regulate throttle so that the 350 hp doesen't rip the back end loose. Maximum traction.

Yea, I was trying to figure out how to get the best 60ft time. End of the night I found the sweet spot by brake torquing at 1500rpm. 2.024 60 ft time! Still got raped by CalgarySS off the line, he managed a 1.954 60ft!

CalgarySS
06-07-2003, 10:05 PM
Thanks Rage. If it makes you feel better, I had my best 60ft times ever last night.

It is an unsettling feeling seeing your car reel me in from what I thought was a pretty darn good launch.

Very nice car.

Thanks man, I really liked your truck too. Really clean looking, and talk about a sleeper! I think we crossed the lines together cuz of my slow ass reaction time, just like my races with Toma... and that was my best run of the night too!

How many rpm's do you brake torque at to get a launch like that? Or is your truck a manual tranny? You should've tried the right lane, would've gotten you into the 100mph club cuz of the inaccurate timing setup! :D. Both lanes had great traction... as long as you stayed in the rubber groove.

CalgarySS

My truck is an Auto with a stock converter. Through brake torquing I can stall it up to 2100 RPM for launch. I use Nitrous right out of the hole, so obviously my problem has always been traction.

Damn 69% Front/31% Rear weight bias!

With the slicks heated up properly and a nicely prepped track I have FINALLY figured out the launch. It has taken my almost 200 runs at Race City to get it nailed.

Rage, have you had that car Dynoed at Tomas yet? I would love to see a video of that, even though I did have a pretty good view of your car at WOT as you passed me.

Yep, I was there during dyno day. I pulled something like 276rwhp.

I helped build that civic. Its a first generation civic with a 1991 honda civic motor and transmission, i think its a B16A6 not to sure. The guy driving it is my auto teacher at crescent heights highschool. I have been helping him build it for a few months during my auto course, he had already done the motor swap a few years ago. We just put all brand new suspension and brakes on it. We relocated the battery to the rear in a custom made box, and removed the whole rear seat. It has the brake conversion so you can run 4x100 pattern wheels.

I asked the guy what he had swapped in and he told me B16 too...With a B16, a or b, he should've been hitting at least low 15's/high 14's methinks:confused:

Yes, thats what we all thought, but on May 30 secret street when I was racing that guy with the B16 Swap we both only pulled a 15.9 and that was due to poor poor conditions (temp, humidity, pressure, traction). I understand the conditions were FAR better on the 6th, so maybe he cant launch properly? or thats all they are capable of?
