What size looks the best on a MK4 Golf? 17" or maybe 18"? Your thoughts please

Depends on the drop. There are lots of good 17's and 18's to go on the mkiv's. Just depends on the look you are going for.

how much money do you have to spend?

how much is the car lowered?

That will give me an idea of what you are looking at and I can make suggestions then.

for mk4 id say 18s for sure if you are getting aftermarket wheels, but if you are getting stock 17's (monte carlos or long beaches etc..) they work well even though they 17's.... I had aftermarket 17's on a mk4 gti and it just didnt look right ...mk3 however (like your 95 gti) i wouldn't go bigger than 16 but thats just me :dunno:

Money isnt an issue here. Just wanted to see what the best combination is of lowered/rims was.

Ill be buying a MK4 soon and just want to start planning. Im thinking to get coilovers so if that helps you in any way. Thanks.

IMO mk4's and mk5's need bigger wheels, no less than 18's :bigpimp:

These are very reasonably priced at 3000USD on vortex:

You have to be quite low to pull off 17's on a mk4 though.

DAYUM!! those are expensive haha

Ill probably get 18's then, after all, this is calgary with some pretty shitty driveways and speed bumps i dont want to scrape my shit every time I go over something. If anyone has any more suggestions feel free. Thanks guys:clap:

i have a nice drop on my mk4 gti and i run 18s, the guy i bought it from was on 19s, but i didnt get them and took 18s instead, only for reasons of performance, but i think 17 is a bit too small, cause the wheel wells on mk4s are pretty big, i would say 18 or 19, my 18s fit and look really nice

Now the next challenge..... finding rims for cheap... :( I know this isnt the place..... but does anyone know where I could find Konig Imagine or Konig Graphite..... to be more specific... they are black with silver lip.... PM if you like. Thanks.

i guess you could go to tunerworks or concept 1 or any other tuner shop in town, but i think cms would be cheapest locally (cheapest way for me was to buy online)

this is just my opinion but i wouldn't go with Konig's on a mk4 though....you need something more ballin'/classy/rare/exclusive if you want to make your dub stand out and look just right and nismodrifter knows all about that :bigpimp:

but then again, its your car and you may have different taste than me...good luck with the search

In my opinion most BBS rims look great on VW's. I'd say a 18 inch wheel would look perfect.

all about many spokes on the rim, big diameter, agressive offsets, streatched tires, and rolled fenders
