Go on the "road to hana" tour. It takes you on a bus all day around the whole island going through rain froest and you get to see multiple waterfalls. Its really worth it in my opinion for photographers.
Here are som pics from that trip.

DRIVE the road to Hana
then go the other way out past Lahina towards the small volcano.
There are some Tide pools in the Rocks. Very cool swimming holes
Maui is very nice. Watch out for the Airport tho. Its old and scary

snorkeling for sure, there are good places everywhere so don't bother with the tours

Road to hana was great. We rented a car and took it, but make sure you take some motion sickness stuff with you. I threw up on the way back, haha.

motion sickness, sounds like fun. We have a couple of inter island flights booked as well so we can see more than just maui. We are going to be there for 10 days/nights so it should give us a lot of time to explore and have fun. We were told to skip taking most of the tours and get a rental car since you'll see more and save a lot of time and some cheesy narrative.

Thanks for the tips so far guys. Anybody know if its true that it's really a long drive from the air port there till most of the hotels??? We aer staying at the sheraton and I was told at least a 1.5 hour drive!! I thought maui would be tiny like SE calgary or something lol.

the big island is cool go there to see the volcano but take a heli tour. Bluesky tours ONLY there were 2 back to back chopper crashes when I was there in March. bulesky is a little more expensive but you will return from your flight in 1 piece.
the sheraton is like 45 minuites away. dont worrie you will drive that distance many times in maui. Its about a 8 hour round trip to Hanna. Inner island trips are almost 4 hrs by the time your doing somthing.
we planned most of our own stuff. had a rental car( get a convt) and check out the tourist maps there full of stuff. ALso if you're going to buy tours go to snorkl bobs there the cheepest for tours.

If your driving yourself, make sure you go see the 7 pools. Definetly worth it for cliff jumping. We jumed off the bridge that is reported to be 50+ feet. Fucking scary as hell.

Big beach or Mckena beach is one of the top 10 beaches in the world. another nice place is the lava fields at the south end of the island. Also you can go to the top of the volcano and watch the sunrise.
