I read in a couple magazines this month that Mits. has finally announced to sell the EVO in Canada. 08 will be the first time. Anyone here planning on buying one?

Only bad part about it being sold here, is the fact that all the high schoolers with lancers dresse dup to look like evos, wont stick out like tools anymore.

:D

Maybe after the lease is up on my car. I'll probably aim for a used evo or used sti

I agree. No where near concept form. They would have to do tons of metal work to make that car looks good.

I wanna see official news from Mitsubishi that they are brining the EVO to Canada. Magazines have claimed this before on previous EVO's and those claims proved false.

Doesnt the new import laws that are coming into effect also are in regards to importing from the U.S?

True magazines have beenw rong before...BUT they indicate that they had it at a Canada auto show to display it.... so maybe its good to go this time

It was official at the Toronto auto show.

that being said I think I'd rather spend that kind of money on something like a BMW 335 sedan or Lexus IS 350 :dunno: that's unless you can import one from states for cheap like the Sti now.

You should be able to import american ones but i was also reading somewhere today that the EVO would sticker at a few thousand less than the sti, so that would be a pretty good deal for a vehicle especially if the new sti looks what i think it will look like:nut:

I seem to remember benyl saying he had a deposit on the first one at Platinum, but I could be wrong about that.

Ya, i was at platinum last weekend and i really like the look of the new lancer's. I asked the salesman and he said the evo will be here january 08, and there's already several deposits on them.

I've been considering one. I don't have enough faith to put a deposit on one before I test drive it though.

Makes me wish i spent a bit more time taking a look at it at the auto and truck show this year... oh well

I'd consider it depending on price.

Itll be cool if it is cheaper then the STi and carries the 10 year warranty. I highly doubt that itll have the 10 year warranty though.

The last Evo had:
10-year/100,000-mile power train limited warranty
5-year/60,000-mile fully transferable bumper-to-bumper new-vehicle limited warranty
7-year/100,000-mile anticorrosion/perforation limited warranty
5-year/unlimited-miles roadside-assistance service

So I dont know how much differant the Evo 10 will be, but it will probably have a similar warranty I would say. :dunno:

dino_martini:

Not sure where you got your information but my EVO does NOT have the warranty coverage you stated....from Mitsu America, the coverage i have is:

5 year / 60000 mile power train limited...still current....
3-year / 36000 mile fully transferable bumper-to-bumper new-vehicle limited warranty...(expired already)...
Other two items are the same....as far as i know.

I think the warranty you listed was for all lancers EXCEPT the EVO....a 10 year warranty on an EVO (current or new) would put Mitsu out of business....

I just googled "Mitsubishi Evo Warranty" and clicked on the first link that came up :dunno:

Putting a deposit down is just putting your name in line for the first right of refusal. I would never buy a car before test driving it.

You have an EVO? You recently move here from the USA?

^You talking about me?

There's two of us in town with Canadian EVO's......

and before anyone else posts this, the search button will get you some info on them...

EVO posts get the lock down pretty quick as the topic has been beaten to death....

??? i am very confused.... i thought evos were not allowed in canada due to a dumb bumper law.

what year is your evo? mind shooting me a link to the thread in here that talks of this? my search results did not help

Thanks

They were brought in before they were banned for having the intercooler piping in the bumper crush under low velocity collisions.
