Buying a used car in the USA

If i want to go buy a used car from the USA... what all process's do I gotta take? taxes? procedures? steps to follow? do's and dont'? Any info woul dhelp..... links?

you need to

- contact RIV, make sure that the vehicle is eligable to be imported into canada.
- you will need to send all your information to the boarder office and let them know 48hrs in advance before you plan on bringing it over to Canada.
- you will need your bill of sale, title, auction number (if you buy from ebay) if you make a deposit or do a wire transfer to pay for the car, you will need to show proof that you did by bringing all your recepits to the boarder.
- you will need to find out if the car has any recalls and get a sheet faxed from the manufacter.
- you will need to pay duty on your purchase (6%)
- in order to legally drive it in Canada, you will need to complete an out of country inspection and an out of province inspection as well.

Do not..

- buy a car that seems too good to be true
- buy without inspection or at least a carfax
- buy without being able to afford to pay for all the fees
