Yeah and Boss watches are made by movado so you know they're not complete shit like some other "designer" brand watches.

Meh, wouldn't trust that. I have a Movado which works great but I went through 2 Tommy Hilfiger by Movado watches in six months (shitty glass and the crown fell off on both)

God dayum... The Mother of All Bangs, Hublot’s The $5 Million Dollar Watch

Ugly but dayummm

Inlaid with more than 1,200 diamonds, of which six stones weigh more than 3 carats each, the $5 million wrist watch was unveiled by Swiss watchmaker Hublot at Baselworld

A world first, a unique piece, an exceptional and incredibly rare feat. And a completely different approach was used for its creation. Unlike an Haute Joaillerie piece, where the design and technical construction are created to emphasise and serve stones which have already been selected, the opposite approach was adopted. The diamond cutters started with a design and then found the diamonds which best matched the complex construction of the case, dial and bracelet. Cutters and setters then employed all of their expertise to resize them to ensure a perfect fit.

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f270/salduchi/2012%20and%20Beyond%20Album/Hublots-The-5-Million-Watch-6.jpg

First challenge: to develop the design of the Big Bang, whilst retaining its graphic codes to ensure it cohesively integrates more than 3 carats of diamonds. Once the technical design was finalised, then the diamonds had to be found and combined. It took one year for the largest stones which came from all four corners of the world, and the same for the 1276 others. Every stone was individually selected to ensure that all were of a consistent quality and colour. They then had to be resized, one by one, to make them a perfect fit for the watch. A renowned master cutter from New York with over 40 years’ experience was responsible for single-handedly cutting the largest GIA-certified stones to ensure they all had the same cut signature.

It was a lengthy process to complete: 14 months of work for all the different disciplines combined, including 7 months’ work for 12 cutters, and the same for the 5 setters, with all the major specialists working on the piece full-time. A total of 1282 diamonds, more than 100 carats of baguette diamonds, a dazzling expression of the work of the best craftsmen in their field.

This watch can be considered as a veritable collection of diamonds. A collection of tableaux. Each was individually chosen in relation to the others to create a harmonious whole.

This is the most precious watch ever created by Hublot and its long-standing partner, Atelier Bunter in Geneva. The diamonds selected by Hublot are all of the highest quality, graded A VVS in clarity and Top Wesselton in colour.

I think wearing out in public would be great security. It is made of diamonds so it is indestructable, and I am guessing 99.999% of people who would see someone wearing that on the street would assume that is fake because first of who would spend 5 mil on a watch, and second if someone could afford that, who would go out in public with it.

I always thought that type of idea would be great security for gold bullion. get a gold bar as an investment, leave it on your desk as a paperweight. No body would think someone is stupid enough to leave a bar of gold out in the open on a desk

A diamond is hard, but also brittle.

So if you scrape it against something, it won't get scratched. But if you dropped it or expose it to any other form of large, direct force, the diamonds would crumble like a sugar cube.

For errbody, do you know/remember your very first watch?

I still have mine and I treasure it the most because it's my first 'expensive' item I ever got. I still remember seeing it as a kid in the mall in Asia through the glass... God, I was a spoiled little bitch back then haha.

^^^

I remember mine for sure!

It was a Mickey Mouse watch. Cheap, plastic, blue case, blue strap. My parents bought it for me when I was about 4. My mom still keeps it somewhere.

My first expensive watch was given to me by my father on a flight to England when I was 14. I have it still kicking around the house. Just like the one below, with a blue face.

Last watch I got was from an ex GF. Got it in 2006, and have worn it everyday since. I love this watch!

The only drawback is most of these watches are all hack jobs from what I've read on other watch forums.

beautiful vintage pieces though nonetheless!

They take the movement from an old pocket watch and toss it in a new case.

The seller has been doing it for years out of the Ukraine.

They are cool watches, but have very little re-sale on the used watch market as there is really nothing original about them

Bwhahaha, me? Hells no... Im a peon compared to the people that have Bell&Ross and Submariner's around here. Lots of F1's too.

Although, I think my recent G-Shock purchase will be my last one for a while as im trying to save up for a trip.

It's going to be a huge watch on your wrist then. I have a M22 and with a 44mm dia. it's a big watch and my wrist's aren't all that small.

go check out 45mm watches in person. for me i have a bunch of 44mm and a few 50mm+ watches. but my wrists are ~8 inches (circumference). my rule of thumb is if the strap fall 90degrees off your wrist. it fits

so for me i have ~2.25 inches of flat wrist which would be a 57mm (lugs included)

Brands like cartier, dior, GP etc sell expensive watches, but their are fashion driven, name and the stones on them make them expensive. If i had tonnes of money then i would buy a couple to match clothing with lol

Just because they don't carry Rolex... (and I'm guessing you're asian) :D

Never thought I would be a Rolex guy, but wow, this truly is a beauty with the blue bezel. Too bad its only in white gold, so its 25k+

I'm not a huge fan of most of the current Breit-Bling watches, but that one is really nice.

Besides Calgary Jewellers, Brinkhaus where would one get replacement/extra straps for Tags in town?

What are some online dealers I can check out?

Love this man! Very tasteful and classy. Alot of Breitling tend to be too flashy for me but this one is perfect.
