From what I've read, their quality is so-so but for <$150, I'd take a chance.

thanks. im just wondering why they have some sales on them that are <$150 but had an original price of $700-ish....why so cheap or is it just a ploy to make it look like you are saving a ton?

Probably. They do that a lot with brands that they can't move. Jack up the price and hope someone buys it then lower it to the price you want so that it looks more affordable.

At the end of the day, if you think it's worth that price, you'd buy it.

Thanks! I agree, most other Breitlings are too flashy and/or huge for my tastes.

The Transocean is simple and clean. I actually really like the non chrono Transocean as well, but I've only seen it without the clear caseback. The rose gold version is pimp, but at $18k, way too expensive for my blood.

Wrist Weapon if they have it in stock, otherwise order direct from Lumtec. If you do a pre-order through WW, there's no guarantee of actually getting it as Lumtec fills all it's own orders first.

Both are great to deal with.

Also while I'm posting, even in bigger flashier watches I hate the look of numbers around the outta dial.

Its a kenneth cole kc9089, Its just what I was looking for and the price made it even easier to decide.

The face has a plum tint to it in certain light.

I prefer the quality of the higher end, Victorinox automatic watches such as the Ambassador or the Airboss.

I've owned lots of both and found the quality of the case/crystal/dial/bracelet to be much better on the Victorinox.

The Victorinox has some killer designs. I'm conflicted between the two:

If you are price sensitive, then I would go with the Victorinox, as they can be found for at least 50% off on the open market, sometimes more of a discount can be had.

The Hamilton's are not as easy to get for such big discounts.

I've owned both of those watches (the Hamilton was not that exact model, but a different dial version) and they are the same quality with perhaps a slight edge going to the Victorinox as the AR coating on the crystal was pretty sweet.

Well, I can get the Hammy's for ~$500 if I dig around. Haven't done so on the Victorinox, yet...

On a random note, I also remember the Ventura from MIB3:

Completely unrelated to the two selections but drool-worthy.

Those Steinhart Grand Prix will be popping up for sale all over the place within 2 months of them being released. Happens all the time.

At first, they will command a 50% price premium. Then once the sellers realize there are only 200 people in the world that want one, 149 people already have them and the remaining buyers all want to pay below list..... they will drop their pants on them.

I saw this exact watch at J.Vair the other day when my gf bought her datejust. I don't remember exactly how much, but I think it was a bit over $13k, something like $13100 before discount. I could be wrong though, my minds a blur from looking at all the watches and the corresponding prices.

The sticker price sounds about right, I just want to know how much I should be paying and/or getting the watch for 'after' discounts. With J. Vair, Brinkhaus and Birks being the three places in Calgary that sell Rolex that I know of, not sure which one would give me the best discount.

Continuing the orange trend I see. I think it looks good, certainly unique.

My mistake. The Men's is the King Power. This is the ladies' Big Bang version:

A. i like it, i love the auto too though and im thinking after this purchase that the auto phantom is my next one. so kinda cool to have the chrono and non-chrono versions, can share straps too so i will have a ton of options which means more watches for my buck.

B. its a classic, its bigger than the M too, once i get the auto M i will have more variety in Lum-Tecs. only one strap choice though.

C. its sold out, so i would have to go back to the bay and pay an extra 20% and hope the same people are not there as i would be rememberable... not in a good way

okay... you talked me into it. just ordered option A, if i love it i'll get the auto next, if not its the lumzilla. i wore a 44mm today which is a bit thicker than the M... but i think it will be a nice watch for dress shirt days.

I love Hublot's but I hate the idea that they literally pump out new limited editions every single week. Really bring's down the resale value IMO.

Not really, it just brings down the resale value of the undesirable LE's. Try looking for something in high demand, ie bullet bang from years ago, it's still trading well over MSRP.

What are you guys' opinion in regards to the Hamilton watches? After hearing a lot about them, I finally pulled the trigger this morning and purchased a Hamilton Khaki King Automatic. Sucks that I couldn't try it in person to see how it'll look on my wrist. It's 40mm and I am afraid that it might be a bit on the smaller side. Other than that, love the look of it.

Its a sharp looking watch, which band did you get with it?

shakalaka
08-25-2012, 03:25 PM
The exact one as the picture. I have tons of metal bracelet one's and wanted to add more leather band options. Will be worn with suits pretty much everyday, so I think it'll fit in fairly well.

I like the simple-classical aspect of it and as well as the somewhat unique factor of having the day spelt out and the positioning of day and date. Haven't really seen many styles like that. The needles and markers have lume and has a swiss automatic movement, can't really go wrong it seems like.

I don't even know the size of my wrist but I am just hoping that it won't look too small on me.

EDIT: I guess I couldn't get over the size being so small that I canceled my order. Really liked the look of the watch, but I the last automatic Hugo Boss I bought is 44mm and I feel that it could've been a bit bigger on my wrists. So, I guess I figured there's no way I'd be happy with a 40mm one.

I am eyeing the Hamilton Khaki King Pilot Auto 46mm one instead now. Even though it's almost double the price. Also looking at other brands and such. So I'd like something on the 'big' side and possibly an automatic, although if something great is overall (brand, size, look etc) I might compromise on the automatic part. Thanks for any suggestions in advance. :D

I have a Jazzmaster Chronograph and I love it. At 42mm it's not "large" though. the Classic railroad is 46mm and I found that to be to big for me, but it's damn sexy.

I thought I had enough choices to be confused about, but now I've got another one, thanks to you.

I am thinking of the Chrono Regattare and the Mona Pacific with the PVD case. The only thing I am thinking about is the movement is a chinese Seagull movement, which arguably isn't as nice the Swiss one's found in the above posted Hamilton and Victorinox. Although admittedly, I don't know too much about movements at all.

Magrette has great casing designs but I'm not feeling the dial.

If the dial was offered in different styles and it had those detailed engravings, I would snipe in a heartbeat.
