If you want new. Calgary jewellery has the quartz for $2000 and the Auto for $2900. But you can get 25-30% off those prices.

Good luck,

Did you happen to see what this watch was going for at Calgary Jeweller's ?

I was also looking for that watch at calgary jewellery. Very nice. But the sales guy i deal with over there told me they don't have this in yet. He told me the MSRP should be around $5000-$5500 when they get it in. So even with a 30% discount your looking at around $3500-$4000 here in Calgary. I read somewhere that this watch was about $3500 U.S. I think cheaper to shop across the border now.

Waltham Lone Eagle Chronograph

The Waltham brand, which has served many aviation pioneers during their exploits, has brought out a new model called Lone Eagle. A worthy descendent of its heritage, it is an attractive blend of retro charm and the most advanced technical characteristics. A COSC-certified chronometer, the Lone Eagle features a Dubois-Dépraz movement, a flyback function, a 45 mm steel case, propeller-shaped hands, and an eagle - the brand’s symbol - engraved on the caseback.

There is also a limited edition of 100 pieces with chocolate dial and matching strap.

This thread has been around for ages and I only just noticed it!

I love watches and have a few kicking around for different days.

This Omega (below) was the first nice watch that I bought almost ten years ago!

Yeah, although for $25k there are other brands that I would rather own...and they wouldn't be owned by Swatch ;)

Do you think it would hurt Ferrari's brand equity if they were bought and owned by Hyundai?

Speaking of Ferarri, have you heard of a company named Fiat?

Take a look what Fiat produces under their own badge and what other brands they own in addition.

Youd be surprised how many brands are owned by the same companies around the world.

Seriously though I am conflicted about this model. It is supposed to be a bang-about diver's model yet it has a complex split minute chrono. The concept just doesn't sit well with me...

Probably around $600-$700 to service a chronograph if you send it to Omega. It would probably be around $350-$400 if you get it done by a local watchmaker.

Those were the quotes I received to service a Speedmaster

I personally wouldn't service the watch until it starts losing time. Omega will probably recommend 5-7 years. If you are taking the watch in water on a regular basis, then I would get the seals replaced each year just to be safe.

Here is an article that explains what is going on with the Sellita movements. I wouldn't say they are "knock-offs".....but many watch companies are using them instead of ETA now and they have been popping up in the Oris TT1 line of watches in the past few months.

The movement in a quartz watch is worth how much?

What makes a timepiece great is a handcrafted movement that is rare and unique.

I am not even a fan of most ETA watches unless they are reasonably priced.

In my mind a handwind or automatic watch is a piece of art. A quartz watch is just a tool.

Actually my SMP Quartz was $1500.. Boy... I feel more ripped off now.....

I went from owning mechanical watches as a child, to digital watches as an adolescent, to ana-digi watches as a young adult, to quartz now most in my middle-age. Why? I am a bussy person that like to just grab a watch that works out of the box and leave the house. I don't have time to adjust all my Auto watches when they have stopped.

Anyways i won't get into a pissing contest about quartz Vs. Auto. Like i said i have both and like wearing the Cheap Omega quartz SMP for every day.

Its not a Quartz movement, Retard...LOL

Its a ETA 2896 movement and the watch goes for $1395.00 US

It is also offered as a quartz for 500. I only saw the quartz models on the sites.

No offence but Swiss army doesn't scream buy me for $1300.

If you are buying a watch for its name then you are a very foolish man.

Well I wouldn't buy a Swiss Army watch pretty much ever. No real imagination.

Second ETA is boring and mass produced, but in the price range your pretty much gonna get ETA.

I just think there are so many better watches in that price range. My personal thought would be save the money until you can buy a really nice diver.

I love the look of the Oris TT1

What is your idea of a "nice" Diver watch?

Go with the Oris. I really like them. Never owned one but tried the TT1 at Calgary jewellery and was really impressed. I might even get one of these for my self.

The IWC Aquatimer uses an ETA 2892 movement as it's base.

If you want something heavy, this Oris may not work as it's titanium.....not steel.

Is the regular Oris Diver Date Titanium?

I'm pretty sure its Stainless Steel.

I think the basic one is steel....all the rest (including the one pictured with the orange accents) are all Ti.

I had a tt1 divers a few years ago. I sold it because I didn't like the integrated bracelet lugs....as my only options were the steel bracelet that was on it, or an overpriced rubber strap from Oris. I couldn't fit a standard leather strap on it without trying to cut the ends to make it fit.

Yes... Pacman is right, this is actually a light watch(the one in the picture) compared to my Omega PO. If you want a heavy watch try the Planet Ocean on, it is like a Brick compared to the TT1. The Oris TT1 has titanium casing like pacman mentioned, also the drawback of the TT1 is it's integrated bracelet. You can either have the rubber or the S.S... But still, i think the TT1 is the nicest looking watch Oris makes in my opinion.

good luck,

EDIT: here is the S.S ones. They are much cheaper than the titanium case ones.

Here is another black watch for you. The F1 from Tag.. Very good priced. It is a quartz model. You should find this watch in Calgary around $850 - $900 with your discount. The MSRP on it is around $1100 - $1200.

Nice looking watch. Weird though that the pushers and crown are on the left side.

I'm looking for a budget diver watch. I'm looking for something along the lines (style and price-wise) of the Tissot Seastar 1000 - now discontinued. Some online shops still have this in stock, but I would prefer something local. Any suggestions for alternatives?

I sold it a couple of weeks ago.

That was a pretty good price for that watch as it was in great shape. The price was low because it was missing the box and papers.
