its up to your insurance company, call them they will have the form that they want you to use

Well I'm thinking the cavalier I was looking at has a big rusted out hole in the rear fender and it's the only rust on the car but I don't want to take a chance with it if that's one of the criteria for passing an inspection and if it's like NB at all it will be. Looks like I'm on foot for a while more hehe

From my experience..some insurance companies require a vehicle inspection report for cars 12 years and older and some require it at 15 years and older so you should be good. May I ask which insurance company you are with? i might know the answer

im with western general and the car is a 1992 cavalier. i don't really want this car just want to have wheels but i think i can be patient enough to find something on here for a couple g's rather than spend 800$ on a piece.

ask the seller if he has insurance inspection in past.. you can use his inspection report if its less then couple months old.

as long as the rust isnt a danger (parts of the car about to fall off, half eaten axles...) then it shouldnt be a problem.

you could always phone up the actual inspection shops and ask them if rust counts/how good does it have to be...

Wouldn't you have more of a concern with the safety of yourself and others by putting that thing on the road? If it has a big hole eaten through it, I'd want to get it up on the ramp and inspected ASAP.
