I know Toyotas are supposed to last forever but I've heard some rumours about people having to replace their engines and having lots of problems.

Are these true or are they an exception to the rule?
Can these engines even push past 100k kms without repairs?

APPARENTLY YOUVE BEEN DRIVING THAT BIG BLUE VAN TOO LONG AND DIDNT NOTICE THAT THEY STOPPED MAKING CELICAS A FEW YEARS AGO. EITHER WAY, TREAT IT LIKE IT SHOULD BE TREATED AND IT WILL LAST YOU FOREVER. BAG THE SHIT OUT OF IT AND IT WONT LAST 100K.

edit: sorry for the caps.

Can any engine really push past 100k without repair? Toyota engines like any other Honda engines are reliable if you maintain it well. I bet it'll probably go past 300,000kms with no problems if you maintain it very well.

When I worked at toyota a guy threw a rod in a GT-S celica and it was replaced under warranty, he said he was driving it fine but in all actuality we flashed his CPU and the last RPM reading was above redline.

That is the only major issue i have ever heard of

check out newcelica.org and you will find all information you are looking for. it also depends witch engine your looking at, the 1zz-fe or the 2zz-ge. The 1zz is a very solid motor, the 2zz had some valve problems. That said i would still buy a toyota over any other make.
