how fast will my snow tires wear down?

I have brand new snow tires on my SUV, don't want to change them...I drive about 500 km per month total....do you people think I can get away with not changing them for the summer...I'm really just worried about how fast they will wear down in 20+ temperatures...so maybe June to September, 4 months x 500 km = 2000 km...?!

ps they are Kumho kw19's or 17's cant remember

Winter tire's are a soft compound.
With the summer's heat, they'll wear down quite a bit but should still see some tread left for winter.

i did it one year and i had to get new winter again the next winter, it sucked, plus they dont handle worth shit, braking is reduced because the brakes lock up way quicker so that sucks, fun to scare the shit out of the passenger tho

yeah I was thinking of just using them as trade in for all seasons or all terrains....would this be advisable with Calgary winters?...some people laughed at me for being paranoid and buying brand new snow tires this season (I'm from Vancouver)...they said its not needed, just have good tread on ur all seasons or all terrains

get all season tires as an extra set then but definitely keep the winter tires, don't trade them in.

Your snow tires will last just fine... if you were driving more id change them out but 2000km is nothing to worry about.

Get Nokkian WR's, then you can run them year round.

ok, I decided to keep 'em...I'm just wanting to save money and/or prolong having to spend it...so if I'm gonna have to buy a new set of tires...why not just wait and see if wears down a lot after the summer...then I'll spend the money I would've spent on new all seasons on new winters...unless there is something inherently un-safe about driving in the summer on snow tires? :dunno: forgive me for the dumb questions as I'm from Vancouver :rofl:

i think your logic is kind of flawed.

Scenario 1:

If you don't spend money and ruin your winter tires to buy new ones you have 0 winter tires and spent money on new all-seasons whatever.

You'll always be using this set of tires so now for this set of tires you say 2000km in 3 months = 8000km a year on these tires.

Scenario 2:

You spend the money and buy all seasons or dedicated summer tires. Now you have a good set of winters (safer) and a good set of all season or summer (better performance etc).

During the year you switch from winter to summer. So in one year you have driven 8000km say for ease sake 4000km on the winter tires. 4000km on the summer tires.

Not only will you have a better tire for the corresponding seasons but you will put less km on each set and thus last longer and prolong your need to buy another set.

Scenario 1 and 2 you are both buying a set of tires. But if you just do it now you now have two sets to divide your mileage between.
