yeah thats weird, did you pick it up and check, maybe thats from the snow from where they've stored it all winter, from what i know they are all stored outside... hope you go back and get more info, when i buy new cars i get the underprotection. did they ask you if you wanted that?

Yes that is normal.. my car was like that only after a few months...

Also under coating wont help b.c they dont put it on the exhaust...

Unless you get stainless steel exhaust, that's going to happen.

without thermal coating, or stainless steel.......the exhaust always rusts fast.

5 weeks for that kind of rust seems excessive though. I would be thinking more like 1 year for that.

Hmm, shitty. i haven't seen anything like that before:dunno: bring it back to Toyota. There should be a 3yr/60,000 kms warrenty for corrosion. I'm not sure if it applies to exaust though? Would'nt hurt to call and ask them.

That is more than normal.

Especially if you do a lot of high speed highway driving (deerfoot)

Please, that is normal. Don't embarrass yourself by bringing it back to Toyota - you'll be the talk of the shop for the day.

Trust me you're fine, and your RAV4 is fine.

If it bothers you too much, get an aftermarket stainless steel exhaust - not something I would do on a RAV4 though...

A little science here... Rust is oxidized iron. Two ways to speed oxidation: Heat and Chemical corrosion. Exhaust systems by design are hot. Don't believe me? Go ahead and grab your exhaust pipe after a drive. Stainless exhaust is pretty much the only way to get around the rust, and unless you have a show car, pretty much not needed.

HAHA, just wait a year or two, you'll want to demand your money back when you see the whole underside covered with exhaust.
