Hey all. Was searching the forums but still couldn't find the answer I was looking for. Tomorrow's my registration day at U of C (8:00 AM tomorrow) and I'm enrolled for the first year Engineering program. So the 10 mandatory courses are scheduled for me already, and what's left for me to do is pick my complementary course. My question is: What's the best course to to take if you're trying to boost your GPA and make things easier for your mandatory (more important) classes? Or perhaps a complementary class that really helped with those 10 mandatory classes.

Link for the acceptable courses are here:

Thanks, I will appreciate all input :)

everyone does econ 201 and they are very happy with the choice.

another few recommendations that are very easy and do not require much time at all are

anth 201.2 with Steig Johnson
GRST 211 ( i think thats the right number, should be the latin medical terms)- super easy class should only require about 4 hours all year.

also, i recommend you get the option done in first semester to get it out of the way.

GRST 211... it's web based and offered in winter, best decision i've made so far. Anth 201 with Steig Johnson wasnt that easy of a class for me... alot of memorization.

I don't see a GRST 211 though.

I see:

205 Introduction To Greece And Rome
209 Classical Mythology & Literature

EDIT: I'll probably be taking ECON 201, though the time for it is MWF 12:00 - 12:50. Wtf, it's such a bitch to make everything fit.

I didn't go to Econ for about 30 hours worth of lectures and started studying for the final 30 minutes before it started...I got a B+
It's really common sense.

Holy shit! It's so hard to get in complementary courses in Engineering. They won't let you drop/swap classes on your own so if it conflicts with any engineering courses, you're doomed unless you call the office. I spent like 1 hour and 15 minutes on the phone with a person there just to get into ECON 201. So many people I know can't even change their timetable for it. I'm just so happy it worked out for me. U of C faculty service rocks!

ECON 201, here I come!

yea thats all they have to do but they have to fit in a complementary study.
And many of them are at the exact same time as the predetermined courses in your block so you have to play around until you find something that would fit.

mine wasnt a problem cause it was a course that happened later on during the day (around 630)
