Moved to BC on monday and I didnt have a car as it wouldnt have passes the OOP. Thought I would get a motorbike instead to boot around in while I lived in Vernon. The last few days have sucked for weather so I figured a car was a little bit better.

I got a 2008 Mitsu Lancer ES, Grey, 16" rims, fairly stock so far but with the spoiler delete.

Was looking at the GT-S and for $5,000.00 more all you really get is some rims, MILD body kit, and a stereo upgrade (all of which I dont care about) and a sunroof (which I do care about but not for $5,000.00!)

The thing rides great, Mitsu's new MIVEC is awesome, so much smoother than any honda/acura I have driven.

Wanted to get photo's up but left my cable at home in Calgary so I will have to just find some internet ones.

mine is identical to this except for a darker grey

or the JDM supra

Do you have the keys to it?

The Cosworth

yes i do, put 132 km on it since last night

the cobalt was to much on insurance and the supra was butchered, the guy took out the power steering, ac, and all the trunk and back seats to fit his 'subs'

it was a mess

Hey! Stop making car related posts on a ranting forum you bastard!!!! :guns:

Jokes - nice car, seems like a good decision. I never really liked them until a guy I know got an 06 and he took me for a rip in it. If you know how to drive you can really have a lot of fun in that car, much better handling out of the box than they look like they should be imo. I'm sure the 08's have only gotten better.

that is why I like it,

only two things that I will be changing soon, I should have gotten the spoiler, it looks naked back there and that the exhaust must be 1/4" or something... honestly probably is though 1 3/4 or 2" exhaust, it just looks funny

thanks guys, once I get a cable I will upload some photos of it and me at Kalamalka Lake. Went up to silverstar and had some good locations but forgot my camera.

I was looking at one of these the other day, would you mind spilling the price?

In BC it was 22,900 with GST, PST, 900 Lease insurance, and the scotchguard/underbody etc.

it was pretty good deal i think

Ahaha nice one. But seriously nice car. At least you finally bought one so we can relax from all the "My new car / oh never mind" threads. Now you can invest that internet forum time in some sweet sweet BC cruises, lord knows theres are a crap load of nice roads to rip up there.

I dont want to start another thread on this, but from Experience what is the best options to break in a car that has a form of Variable Valve Timing.

I have been going relatively easy but have punched it a few times, couldn't help it, but I have heard to vary speeds and RPM at which I travel, and long hill climbs and descents help seat the valve seals and rings... This sound right? How long do I do it?

I heard a story of a guy who got an old Ralliart (there you go reiRei) and didnt break it in, ran fine, but he raced a guy who did break it in properly and he lost consistently, no mods done to either car. so that is my concern

... drive fast?

I just finished reading the break in thread, and am more confused than ever.

Jesus, I think I will do what I think will work, take her easy but dont be afraid to give her some once and a while.

Also I will get my oil changed at 1000 km, the dealer said 3000 but that just seems to long to me. I know the filter and magnet in the oil pan should get most but I still think it should be done

weird.. with my 06 RA, we did the oil change at 6k... and had no problems with it...

Unknown303

Yeah changing the oil at 1k seems a little excessive.

Oh by the way, someone here sure is bringing their posts/day ratio up. Congrats Brendan.

congrats man. A few weeks ago a new Lancer pulled up infront of me and some buddies and we were all like "thats a lancer, no freaking way". Its a really good looking car.

I do like the look of the new lancers more than the last gen's... but i still think it needs to grow on me like the new VW Jetta body style.

Though i did see one in person driving around and it looked great, guess i'll just need to see a few more of them.

But i gotta say the new interior is a major upgrade vs the old one!

Enjoy the new car

Congrats, nice ride  Just recently seen a few of the '08 Lancer's around. Had to double take because I couldn't believe it was a Lancer

Actually no freaking clue, I am waiting to check until I can actually afford some rims.

Unknown, yeah I started work today so thursday and friday were pretty brutal sitting around.

I guess I could wait a while to change my oil, but I wanted to get the shavings and assembly lube out.

Honestly it is a car to judge in person because at least 80% of the photo's dont do it justice IMO

I love those cars. Saw my buddies last weekend, 18" wheels, fully loaded, cool starter system so you don't even have to put the key in to start it, paddle shifters and gearbox shifter  I will definately look into a Lancer when/if I look for a new car.
