I went through 2 players before I figured out my TV has HDMI but not HDCP so it won't display (or there's another problem). I've confirmed that both of these players work by plugging into my computer LCD through HDMI-DVI.

#1 Toshiba SD-4990 SOLD
#2 Samsung DVD-HD870 SOLD

They both have their remotes, manuals and receipts (for warranty). These prices are FIRM as it's what I paid for them (-GST) they were both open box units. Both of these retail for $100 new.

are you sure it's because of hdcp?
because if that's the reason your lcd shouldn't display it unless it's hdcp (very few models i believe)

My TV is a CRT RP HDTV. I think it's one of the first that had an HDMI port. The WinDVD HD-DVD advisor tells me that my TV is not HDCP. My LCD does have HDCP (one of the reasons I bought it).

Just to follow up... it's definately that my TV doesn't do HDCP. My spanky new 360 Elite tells me so when I try to watch a HD-DVD over HDMI. Stupid because I finally pulled up the specs on my TV and it says it SHOULD support HDCP. Guess I'm calling Hitachi today.
