The installer would use a tire machine. Ask if you can watch when they mount your tires.

To do it manually without a machine requires some dexterity beyond "stomping" but it can be done on tires with flexible sidewalls.

dont forget you need to BALANCE them, and you need that done professionally with a tire balancing machine. Unbalanced tires causes bent wheels, broken suspension, etc.

Pay the $10 :).

It would take the strength of an elephant to get the tire onto the rim in that fashion.

Pay the $10 :)

On this tv show this guy was in the arctic and had really big tires to put on the rims so he put one side of the tire on the rim and filled it with lighter fluid. Then ignited it and the tire popped on the rim perfectly. But don't try this at home;)

Is that 4 x $1.00 = $4.00 for tire disposal? That's cheap because we pay $4.00 per tire, but in Canuck bucks.

Yes I know you're keeping your tires, but I'm asking if that is the rate they would charge.

Probably cheaper at Costco.

We here in Alberta get stuck with the $4.00 per tire by the government so it's charged no matter which shop you use.

The part I hate is our tire disposal tax is considered a "fee" so it's subject to GST (our federal sales tax). :thumbsdow

I know a guy who was in the Korean army (conscript) and he was a drvier and they trained them to change tires on rims. He said it was shit hard even with those huge sidewalls. Low profiles good luck - remember how you put your bike tire on with the flat had screwdriver ... well it is a little(sarcasm) harder than that!

If they are nice rims make sure they don't put the weights from the balancing in the wrong place. I good shop will hide them behind the spokes (assuming you have spokes). Tirecraft did a good job installing mine. Also some shops have a limit on the size and types of tire they can do.
