Well we started to think of a few cars for us but I would like some opinions from the fellow Beyond members

must be:
baby friendly (no 2 door cars)
driveable year round (my wife and I will drive this)
prefer automatic
prefer fwd or awd
and most important of all needs to be a good looking car as my only upgrades I will be doing are rims, lowering, simple body kit

So far been looking at:
Jetta
STI
Audi a4

You could buy my car. Its rwd and manual though. Drives awsome in the winter with the winter tires that come with it.

Werd, I vote for a simple WRX. Still have AWD, and still look very nice IMO.

+1 For WRX

WRX will be the quickest out of the group, and they hold their value much better then the Germans you pointed out.

You've got some very different cars in that list of yours. Your wife and your baby are not going to like the Suspension on the STi for city driving. It's great for autocross though. It's also not automatic.

Assuming your budget is 50k, and you want new, you can't beat the new G35x. Nothing will come close to the interior of the Audi, but bang for your buck, G35x is where it's at.

definately alot of subaru fans, I like the idea of the car for sure. I know the STI doesn't come in automatic, we do prefer an auto but I just love that car so much.

I won't be going brand new but sticking in the 04-05 years (roughly 30k budget)

Now I just need to find someone with a wrx or sti so I can see what they are all about as they are hard to come by at dealerships

WRX/Sti are fairly small cars. There is hardly any room in the back. If you have a growing family, that might not work for you. But, I do know at least one guy on the boards here that uses his STi to haul his kids around in so it's doable to some extent. They are very fun to drive though all year round. AWD really does make a difference. Oh, and If Auto is a must Sti is out and I have personally never seen anyone drive an Auto WRX. :) I know they do exist though.

For 30K you can actually buy a new Jetta (2.5L 5cyl), this year they are updating the 2.5L to 170hp. Not a bad little daily driver and you get 4 year warranty.
