I am looking at a 2002 Honda Civic SI COUPE, and apparently this car never existed from the research I am doing. For this model year only, the 2002 Civic SI only comes in a hatchback for some reason, maybe just in the U.S? The only 2002 Civic SI's I am seeing are the SIR version which is of course the hatchback.

I just checked the VIN through an insurance company, and it says it is in fact a 2002 Civic SI. I was going to run a Carfax on it, and it comes up as a 1.7L Honda Civic EX. Now I did some research, and apparently, the Canadian Civic SI, is the same as the U.S. Civic EX, is this correct? So what the hell is the car I am looking at? What engine and horsepower? 2.0 liter correct? Can anyone clarify this for me?

I own a 2002 Civic Si Coupe. In Canada, the 2002 hatchback is the SiR, while we called the coupe Si-G. So the Si coupe we have here is the same as the EX in the US. It's a D17A2, 1.7 L - 127 HP. Hope that helps.

Ahhh, it all makes sense. I just called T & T Honda and they basically said the same thing. I was hoping for the 2.0 liter engine, oh well. So the Si has the VTEC which apparently kicks in another 10 horsepower or so up top?

Why would they label the Canadian and U.S. cars differently?

Btw, thanks for your help.

It's a marketing thing. Giving us Canadians the EX and labelling it as an Si. Tsk tsk. Yeah, that engine is the only one that has VTEC for 7th gen Civics. I don't think it'll give it THAT much of a kick though haha!

You won't even notice the VTEC in that car... Sorry, but the EM's are basically the black sheep of the civics... The SiR was discontinued after 04 and there wasn't another K-series civic until 2006. (the new Si).

But Disoblige is 100% right, since the beginning our SI's = US EX's... and our SiR's = US SI's... So while we still get the same cars, they're super hyped up here haha.

Word. Stay clear unless you're looking for something with good gas mileage, horrible seats and crappy ride.
