The eclipse is almost had 100,000km, but when im in 2,3,4... I press the gas and the car will rev and then the power starts kicking in..
It usually doesn't do it in 1st, well it does, but not as bad..
2nd seems to be the worst...

I'm guessing its the clutch, but I def not ride it, or bag the car...

Any other idea's what it could be? Anyone ever changed a clutch on an eclipse?

I'm going to call the dealership tommorow and get a quote for parts and labour...

Thanks!

you do need to replace your clutch

Put it into 3rd and start to feather off your clutch. If it caltches your good(starts to stall), If it keeps at normal idle you probably need a new one in the near future! A technician friend of mine told me that. Good Luck!

Nother good way is to floor it in 3rd gear.. if the revs go up you dont actually gain speed then the clutch is slipping.

Isn't that a bit early for clutch replacement though?
It's really weird how different clutches wear out so fast.
I've heard my car's clutch should be changed out every 40k Miles (~70k KM), but that is BS if you ask me! Some people ride their clutch really badly.

LMK if you need the name of a good guy, he gives good prices and does good work!

Yeah its wierd, i've boughtmy car with 280,000 kms on it and i was told the clutch needed to be replaced with in 20,000kms and now theres 380,000 kms and still the same clutch. Then i've seen clutches that go in 40,000kms :dunno: I guess its how you drive.

yea i agree depends how u drive it too but could also be the type or brand of clutch .. some clutches will give out after like 20k ... maybe even less :burnout:

no offense or anything but i think the newer mitsu's have shitty trannys or something. my bro has an 06 lancer ralliart with only 30K's on it and the clutch slips in 1st...and he baby's the car so it can't be the way he drives. :dunno:

i have to agree with everyone else though, it does sound like a slipping clutch. doesn't the warranty cover it though?

doesn't mitsu have a 10year/160 000 kms warrenty
maybe you can get it fixed under that

Warranty never covers the clutch. Average clutch life is around 8-10 years. SO yeah its a little soon, but if your not the original ower, maybe the owner before you drove it bad or road the clutch.

National transmission does a great job on clutch and them seem to always be a good price. My guess is around 1200 to get it done.

A clutch is usually at least 6 hours of labour, right? It aint cheap.

Yeah i shopped all around and they seem to be the best price. UNless you want crappy tire or some hole in the wall to do it. But i would never allow that on my cars.

Hey Kobe, why don't you go exedy stage 1 or something? It will be a little rougher, yeah, but they are good quality clutches and you may actually like it more on your car, plus it will be cheaper than OEM.

For my old prelude, I got a quote for $600 for a clutch job, which wasn't bad considering for the 'lude you have to remove the transmission for the job. Anyways, yeah I guess you guys are right about the labor.
