I have a 2002 dakota 4 X 4 that seems to have something wrong with the 4 wheel drive. If I put it in 4 X 4 low reversing it feels like the parking brake is on and makes a grinding noise up front. Not sure if its in the front axle or the transfer case. Not sure, but there is definitely something wrong with it. Also it is hard to get it out of 4 wheel drive back into 2 wheel drive. Wondering were people would recommend I go to get it fixed? Is it better to go right to dodge or should I go somewhere else?

Thanks in advance.

My buddy owns 2 mechanic shops, they are REALLY good, and guarantee all of their work.

You can give them a call if you want.

Best bet would be to go to a driveline shop. Somewhere like Alberta Driveline on Yellowhead.

cornelius is in Calgary, I don't think he's going to go all the way up to Edmonton to get his truck looked at.

I took it to Dodge to see what they thought, and they think it is a seized U joint up front. That transmission place is close to my work. Would they still do a u joint in the front drive shaft, or do they only work on transmissions? Thanks everyone for the quick replies.
