So i am careless at the moment and currently looking at 2 cars. I just cant figure out which one would be better to go with

1998 Getta glx VR6
182,000km
NO rust
Some rock chips
Mint interior.
Crack in rear bumper.

OR

1999 GTI VR6
190,000
3 small surface rust spots
Some rock chips,
mint interior
2 sets of tires, (summer and winter)
Alpine deck
Owned most of its life (accept last 6 months) by a VW technician.

Both cars are around the same price. Both have good and bad. I like the looks of the GTI better. I just dont know which would be the better car to have?

ANy quick thoughts? thanks beyonders.

id personally go with the jetta, rust is a major if it has a lil now expect it to grow alot in the near future. plus jetta's slammed on some decent wheels look amazing knowing you still have a 4 door sedan. :D

Personally i think the jetta looks better, and like someone mentioned before, rust is a big issue and i recommend you stay away from it so you dont run into future problems

Yeah the more i think about it you guys might be right on the getta. I mean i like the GTI becuase its smaller and more nible and probably a tad faster, but the jetta might be the better buy.

is that a drivers edition gti?...that would make it a bit tougher for me but then the rust would bugg me depending on how bad it is

Id got with the jetta just by looking at the pic, it looks liek it was really taken care of(from the outside).

I never knew we had that many buildings. lol

EDIT: how do i always end up typing after you euro_racer!! haha

I dont believe the GTI is the drivers edition, but how can you tell?

drivers edition usually has those rims and the interior is a bit more dressed up. the seats have a different pattern and there would be red stitching on the steeringwheel and boots aswell as a golfball shiftknob

-adidas, maybe its because i own you  j/k

edit: other things to look for would be lowered suspension, and new anti-sway bars

Get the Jetta. I saw the pics of the interior and engine and it looks mint.

The GTI has the drivers edition shift knob, and the drivers editions steering wheel with red stitching. The seats look the same as the leather interior on the jetta.

I always thought that style of jetta was the ugliest one they ever made. I'd take the GTI myself, as long as its in descent condition... but if you like the look of the jetta and it's cheaper, maybe it's the better buy for you.

DE were 1997 NOT 1999, plus they were either Ginster or Jazz!!

Another thing to note is that Jetta's have always sold better than GTI's, which I take as a sign that when you want to sell it, it will be easier to sell a Jetta
