Anyone know what average BC insurance rate is, for a single car, no collision, just basic liability? I have to jump through 10 hoops before I can get a quote, and I want to know if its worth getting the vehicle inspected and what not in BC, or just stick with my Albertan insurance. I am moving to BC, and hence why I am asking, but I will still have an address at my parents place in Calgary. Thanks.

Im paying roughly $1600 /year in Alberta, for the basics, no accidents.

I'm with ICBC, no claims, 2000 civic si, but full coverage runs me $1250 a year in Kelowna. It would be more if I was in Vancouver.

you are looking about $600 to $800 a year for just $1,000,000 liability, and no other coverage.

Oh god switch, Alberta's insurance rates are horrible compared to BC's.

Full on insurance with every bell and whistle will run you up less than your basic insurance in Alberta.

I moved to BC for education, so I had the option to keep alberta insurance or switch to ICBC.
I kept alberta insurance. Here is why....

Presently I carry full coverage ($1000 deductible) on an 05 golf gls tdi. I pay $128/month for my coverage in Alberta. I'm 22, married, no accidents or tickets ever.
For the same coverage in BC it would have been $143/month. Not a huge hike, but it's more than alberta none the less.

The other reason I stayed is my second car. I have an 87 porsche 951, which is presently on a recreational insurance policy in alberta, 16,000km/year no more than 50km/week to/from work, etc. I pay $600/year for that coverage here... in BC it would be $2000.
No thanks, I am sticking with alberta insurance :D

If you dont mind me asking what insurance company you are through. I pay 260 a month for an 05 Accent Gsi and I am 23 and have no accidents or speeding tickets. I also have full coverage and 1000 dectuctable.

ya no offence, but I have to call either bullshit on any Alberta rate for anyone under the age of 25 that's better or even remotely comparable to a BC rate...or I call..."hook me up buttercup asap"

It's quite possible depending on where his mailing address is. It also helps that he is married.

A married guy living somewhere other than Calgary or Edmonton pays about 40% less than a single guy living in Calgary / Edmonton.

Well I'm not about to get married to save big on car insurance.
