The Dark Knight: The Joker Revealed
By: César A. Berardini - "Cesar"
May. 22nd, 2007 1:58 pm
IGN's Movie Channel got to save the first picture of Heath Ledger as The Joker from the IBelieveinHarveyDentToo.com web site that Warner Bros. launched as a viral marketing campaign for The Dark Knight, the sequel to Batman Begins.

The new Joker style is in line with the restyling of the franchise that Christopher Nolan launched in Batman Begins.

The Dark Knight hits theaters on July 18, 2008. Rumor has it that Pandemic is developing the video game based on the movie.

I sincerely two face looks really cool as well... I like this fans "interpretation" of what two face looks like:

i think it is great that they are taking a more 'realistic' spin off of the comic books. As appose to making them look like real life cartoons, they are making them actually look like deranged serial killers. Creepy!!

great actors, characters and atmosphere. Hope the story doesn’t suck as bad as Batman Begins lathed with a bunch of stupid and nonsensical action that promotes boredom over excitement and a sense of suspense.

Well, taking a bath in a vat of chemicals would do that to a person. I'm wondering where his grin is though. Every version of him has at least one trait in common, that he emerges from the chem.dip WITH the permenant grin.

Not to mention the inconsistency in the first series. Harvey Dent was originally played by Billy Dee Williams in the first Batman ('89).

It took a Jack Nicholson to pull off the green hair, white makeup, and purple suit back in 1989 but honestly, the look really doesn't work in a live-action movie. It's just too ridiculous outside of the realm of comic books. On the other hand, Ledger's/Nolan's interpretation of the Joker is perfect for the new series. It's darker and looks a lot more 'realistic' than the comic Joker.

IIRC there are two "versions" of the Joker - the traditional one is Jack Napier who falls into a vat of chemicals.

The other version (I believe in the Dark Knight comic series) is a kid whose parents are killed and his face muscles are slashed by the murderers giving him a permanent grin. He goes off the deep end, and VOILA! Joker.

Looks like they may be doing the 2nd version of the Joker instead of the first.

I like the look, I was worried about Ledger being cast as the Joker, but looks awesome. All my fears of a brokeback Joker have been dispelled!

Couldnt agree more, i was a bit worried with him as the joker but it looks awesome.

And yeah, it certainly does seem to match the dark knight storyline.

This Joker looks a lot grittier and scarier than Jack Nicholson's.

I've never been a fan of the Batman movies. They just seem too comical, and well... kinda silly.

But Batman Begins was different. I was astonished: It was actually a good movie! I think the dark genre works very well for it, and I expect a good movie here as well. RIP Mr. Ledger.

So I attended the premiere of The Dark Knight yesterday night in Hong Kong. We all got a bag of cool swag, so I thought I should show the rest of you.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v106/zerom3/hkblog/02/DSC_0603.jpg

First of all, we have this Staff Strike Batman action figure (don't worry, it's not in the movie). It clearly uses Christian Bale's jaw as a model to be consistent with the film.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v106/zerom3/hkblog/02/DSC_0604.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v106/zerom3/hkblog/02/DSC_0609.jpg

Next, we have a four-cover notebook. Yes, four covers. Front, back, and two in the middle. At first I thought it was two notebooks stuck together, but I couldn't separate it at all as it used a ring-bind. Strangeness.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v106/zerom3/hkblog/02/DSC_0611.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v106/zerom3/hkblog/02/DSC_0614.jpg

Now this is a creative swag: A partial copy of the Gotham Times. Contains four full pages of real content (not those Lorem Ipsum crap) and two pages advertising the film itself. The paper quality is pretty authentic, though slightly better than real newspaper.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v106/zerom3/hkblog/02/DSC_0616.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v106/zerom3/hkblog/02/DSC_0618.jpg

I wonder if I should sell this on eBay? xD

Lastly, an Octopus Card (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octopus_card) cover.

That was a pretty good movie. I didn't expect to get tickets for the early release tonight. The movie started at 12 midnight at studio 16. All my girlfriend and I did was go to Boston Pizza and get the dinner/movie combo for $17.95/person, walked to the movies after at 11:15pm and inquired if they had seats available for the movie, the guy then tells me there are still tons of seats left so we went for it.
