The Traffic Section is still actively investigating the
serious injury collision that occurred on Sunday the 20 May
200 at about 2:50 PM at Deerfoot Trail and Memorial Dr. NE.

Investigators know that at this time of day that this is a
busy intersection and that there were other people who may
have witnessed this collision. They would especially like to
talk to the occupants on a Nissan Murano that stopped at the
scene and helped and then left.

On the 20th of May, 2007, at 2:50PM, a collision occurred at

Memorial Drive above the intersection at Deerfoot Trail. Two
vehicles were involved: a Dodge Neon and a Chrysler Sebring.
The Sebring was southbound, but was stopped at a red light on
the north side of the intersection from the off ramp from
southbound Deerfoot Trail. The Neon was west bound Memorial

Drive approaching the west side of this major intersection.

The traffic light for the Sebring change to green and this
vehicle advanced into the intersection with westbound
Memorial Drive.

The Neon failed to stop at the red light and proceeded
through the intersection striking the Sebring. The Sebring
was driven by a 36 year old female who was transported to
hospital with life threatening injuries sustained from direct
impact from the crash. She has since be upgraded to stable,

but has yet to regain consciousness. Her two year old
daughter was also transported to hospital only as a
precautionary measure; she was firmly secured in a child
seat/restraint.

The two male occupants of the Neon were transported to
hospital as a precautionary measure and were released.

Charges are pending against the driver of the Neon
